and it's a lot easier to learn computers when you're not scared of accidentally trashing your daily driver. throwing that out there. get yourself a cheap piece of shit that can't even run win10 without cooking itself and watch in shock that it runs linux smoother than your regular machine on windows

way cheaper than a chromebook, better driver support, way more storage, easier to take apart, small enough to pop into an average bag and haul around with you. old programs, old games, modern linux, works great. love these fucking things

if you know your way around a computer you can drop less money than you would on a raspberry pi on a whole old full-featured atom n270 netbook with all working parts and do whatever the fuck you want with it. just cause it can't browse the modern slop web doesn't mean it's not a great machine

and yes all of my windows programs work great on linux. i like using (older) windows as a fun thing because real hardware is awesome and cheaper than you'd think, if something really doesn't work you can set up a vm and it's probably a nasty hacky program that barely works to begin with

it's barely different to me except the parts where the computer actually works like i want it to and everything is nice and standardized. i still regularly use 7 and xp and 95 on other machines and i love those oses. modern linux is way smoother than it was a decade ago. ive tried a lot of distros

see my thing with windows is that i'm a windows power user and i love ms-dos and using the command line, and microsoft keeps making it worse to actually get into the system and they fuck up drivers and autoupdate and do the AI shit. this is why im typing from a computer that is running Arch Linux

I wanted to do a serious painting and record the whole drawing process, just to have an example for the youtube. It ended up taking over 10 hours, so I'll have to do multiple x16 speed edits to make it at all palatable to watch.

I got this marvelous opportunity to do Mario Teaches Typing. And when I got the script and I'm in the studio - I'm reading the script for the first time, there were things like "You failed!"
"That wasn't very good." "That was much worse... that was bad."
And I was reading that and I said, "Do you mind if I just, like, play with these words a little bit and just change them around?" because, you know, I never say "no" and I never say anything negative as Mario... and the producer graciously said "Sure, go for it!"
And so it became "Oh, that was good, but I know you can do even better!" "Oh, nice one but let's try again!" so it was always uplifting and always trying to be positive. And I think that that is the essence of the character to me - it's that love and that joy.

i do know what they framed it as. a "violation of boundaries" like it was a small thing, being pushy or annoying or too insistent. instead of what it actually was. poking at the rape i experienced as a 5 year old and sexualizing my childhood. getting angry when i spent time with any other friends.

the answer to this is functionally yes as long as i don't accidentally swap the wires (catastrophically bad) and i wrap the tape pretty tight around the cell so it doesn't come loose but i guess i just feel a bit dumb today

usually you'd buy a new one but is it okay if i just cut the wrapper off a laptop CMOS battery and reuse the wires + connector on a fresh cr2032, and just wrap electrical tape around it? they're expensive and also i just hate wasting anything and i have a few 2032s laying around

Screenshot of the homepage for Kensington's website, a manufacturer of physical anti-theft locks for desktop computers and laptops. If you've seen a rectangular hole in the case with a K next to it, this is for that. I honestly just want to use it as a charm hole. The webpage itself is covered in crap and the scale is completely off. There's barely anything on-screen to read except for the top ribbon and a giant ad for a Thunderbolt docking station, which is not what the company is even known for producing, plus an AI chatbot button.
