Indeed…a gradual recovery at least.

I thought there’d just be a handful of likes for this pic, but the subject matter seems to have struck a chord.

“…they look like an elegant necklace, strung out across the sky…a necklace that seems to wave as though on the wind.” would make a great alt description on my post! They’re a fine sight.

Today’s #BirdOfTheDay theme is: #Waders Two years ago a rare #American wader dropped in to @rspbframptonmarsh.bsky.social . It strutted its stuff right by the car park in lovely early morning light. Nice to have a short walk to get a bird occasionally! #birds #lincolnshire #rspb #wader #eck #canon

Good Morning ☀️ Per Alan (via Rob): today's #BirdOfTheDay theme is #BlueWater, birds surrounded by Blue Water. A Snowy Egret looking at its own #reflection .. probably thinking: who's that? 😂 #ECK #photography #birds #WingedWednesday #WaderWednesday #WaterWednesday

Photo of a Snowy Egret looking down at the water surface which happens to have a mirror image of the bird since that water was so perfectly smooth

Ta…classic case of the bird doing all the work really!

Update: apparently, a few minutes after I saw it, the osprey was spotted rising high…apparently a sign they’re moving on…and hasn’t been seen since (Sat am). I can’t believe how lucky I was with that call. Birding seldom works like that!

That’s a hell of a pic! 👏👏👏

Great pic, loving the drama!

Lovely pic and a perfect background and light for that beautiful curlew pattern.

Lucky call Go to Southport for the pallid harrier or W.Yorks for the osprey? A few minutes after tipping up @rspb.bsky.social St Aidan’s this beauty was right overhead. M/W the harrier had reportedly moved on. #photography #birds #birding #BirdOfTheDay #BlueSkies #wildlife #nature #raptor

Hope it’s still there for you. I’m still hoping I may be able to catch up with it.

Oskareel @oskareel.bsky.social · 03/10/2026

I was torn between going to Southport for the harrier or St Aidan’s for the osprey. Plumped for the latter…seems like the right decision if the harrier’s moved on (and got my best ever views of an osprey).

I think you are good with words. More importantly, you’re a storyteller. You wouldn’t have 3.5k followers if you weren’t. Every Bluesky post is a mini chapter in the saga of this raven family and your relationship with them. People tune in to find out what’s happened next.

I value your blog and your Bluesky posts because I learn from you both bird and photography wise, but if it’s become a drag then kick it into touch and concentrate on the stuff that brings enjoyment.

As usual, loved that blog. I need to get to some of these places instead of just moaning in my head about Manchester (Gtr Mcr, the southern bit of Lancashire, whatever) not having any decent birding sites.

Love this. “What the hell is that?” is always the thought just before I look up and think “Ah yes, of course, a raven” And then I think “Bloody brilliant, I’ve just seen a raven!”. And the book…is it about your experiences with ravens? If so, can’t wait!
