When I read about these monstrous betting companies etc., I think: what if we built a society where young people felt pressure to pursue prosocial careers? I am regularly shocked at the free pass our society (even my very liberal society) gives to people who make their money destroying things.

no one tells you what to do when you find out your estranged mother dies through your (estranged) brother's Facebook account that you only very occasionally look at -- the same week you recall her dragging you down the stairs saying she's going to find someone to adopt you no one

Reports from the area are people are starting to post about accepting job offers and starting in 2 weeks. This is happening. A brand new detention center in Minnesota. GOP reps paved the way, and there’s been zero pushback from the dfl. This is a bipartisan endeavor.

Imaging joining ICE because you want to be a badass who torments immigrants but then you fall on your ass and everyone laughs at you so much that it becomes a meme and someone makes crop art about it at the Minnesota state fair and wins a prize.

I am finding the campaign contributions Frank Perullo & family made interesting including to Tompkins in 12/23 which is interesting timing While you are OCPF check out who has given to the Steve Tompkins Legal Defense Fund -- a few surprising names Suffolk County sheningans need more attention

This case will likely be heard at the SJC in October (www.ma-appellatecourts.org/docket/SJC-1...). This is also a case folks should think about in evaluating the decision-making at @scdaonews.bsky.social under DA Hayden. #bospoli #mapoli

I'm thinking about how much "watching" there has to be -- we've been "watching" the courts and cops forever for me, it's a hypervigilence that just doesn't leave my body after so many years of knowing why we watch and experiencing the web of carceral systems that oppress

I was relieved to not have to speak and now I realize I'm also hurt. Everything is so rationed for me, even communication. I didn't need to be canceled on today. It also means a day longer without medicine.

I have to try to speak to someone today. I'm really self conscious because I'm out of practice and only speak out loud for about an hour a week, with my therapist. It's weird to think I used to lecture. Everything changes.

people talk about isolation but each time I have a virtual doctor's appointment they ask me questions that assume there are people in my life they always ask: do I get irritated with people or do people get irritated with me and do people notice me moving more slowly or quickly what people?

now that I'm back on some medicine I also now need to ration that medicine and deal with the days I run out -- I told my team about this problem but all of the solutions just never materialize in time to avoid going without what I need it's one of the reasons I originally stopped

It’s admittedly weird to be on a platform where people are talking about you like you don’t exist. That poor people are some other people. My language about myself and my body is different than the language that most people use when describing us.

One of my first encounters with AI was at a workshop held by someone who was not a good grant writer and didn't like writing grants -- and she was teaching people to use AI to "write grants." You know what I used to love doing and earn money doing: writing grants.

If you have a friend who has shared about suicidal ideation, follow up even if they "seem fine," even if the crisis appears to have passed. Ask about it directly. SI loves the darkness. It loves loneliness. It loves silence. Even asking about it is a service, even if after it's gone. /9

This is an urgent need. Hello everyone, I’m reaching out for support for a family in dire need. She’s a single mother of three who lost her job during the ice raids and was recently laid off from her new job. As a result, she’s struggling to pay her bills and rent, and she’s now facing an eviction

I crowdsourced and then finalized this document "How to disable or avoid intrusive AI" and then gave it a short URL: notoai.org Please pass along if it's useful
