got all i wanted out of slay the princess and you know what? i /really/ like the narrator. he's genuinely trying to help the most people according to his values. he's moral and guilts you. top 5 villains, one of the criteria for which is that you can argue they aren't in fact villains

stp is picking me apart in a really fun way. it scratches all my itches about selfhood and perspective and heterotrophy while putting me in a viscerally uncomfortably gendered pov, which dovetails with the whole lack of agency thing and also being a weird bird critter

I see life as a shared gift, received from others and passed on to others, living and dying as one process, in which lies both our suffering and our reward. Without mortality to purchase it, how can we have the consciousness of eternity? I think the price is worth paying.

idk what the initial attempt looks like--maybe they can't even leave the star without meteion's song dissolving them. zodiark as a rallying cry against despair, but also a refusal to accept an imperfect future--a desperate conservatism

she loved people and respected her colleagues--as they are. elidibus tells us nothing we do will change what will happen so why handle fate like it's fragile? let the ancients really understand collectively what's going on--and fail even when given the best chance.

one one clam there's a poetry in her going it alone--hermes asks the question, meteion delivers the data, he interprets it and passes judgment. venat asks the question, wol delivers the data, she interprets it and passes judgment. both end the world. it just doesn't flow causally to me tho

not that i don't enjoy venat being grey and splitting people to dipoles over what kind of person she is but with memory erasure/restoration already being a theme in enw why not have her actually tell god and everyone what happened at elpis and have them try and fail to stop the meteia

which isn't to say of course that amaurot made its own decision lightly, just--venat was out there sleeping on peoples' couches and doing their fetch quests and listening to their problems. then she retired from Big Decision Making and being an Important Person and all that. she was done.

thinking abt the fantastic narrative cruelty of making venat specifically the one to become hydaelyn and sunder the world. thinking abt how she knew the world as azem more intimately than anyone else on the convocation. had more faces in her mind of the people she'd end.

I love that it's a straight up taboo to go searching for people who go missing in the woods. Imagine getting injured and the Gridanians going "damn, the elementals must've willed it 🤷‍♂️" rather than looking for you before you bleed out.

I tried to tell everyone that I saw them. But nobody listened to me. They just ignored me and kept on thinking they were wildlings. They believe anything if you say the elementals did it.

And they won't even look because they say it's taboo. Instead they just wonder what they must have done to be claimed by the forest.
