Coffee at the end of the garden this morning, looking much better now the old fence panels are cleared. I’ve a winter project in mind to reshape this area, make the pathway to the fields more accessible, and in the longer term add a coil tub… watch this space!

Humpday off and dry weather means mowing. Ryobi mower, edger and blower, but mother-in-law-to-be’s hand held sheep shears are best for the curved edge to the circle.

One of my amaryllis, that has been ignored in the greenhouse for months, has suddenly decided to flower! For years, I’ve tried to get a second year’s flowers, and failed. Perhaps neglect is the way forwards? 🌸

Morning meander, and today’s jobs decided. The hedge by the cart lodge could do with a trim, the ‘green’ garden behind it needs a tidy, and the bed in front of it is overdue a weeding and fern sorting. Comments about dangling pairs appreciated! 🍐🍐 😉

I have avoided the temptation to potter at jobs in the back, and have stuck to the front garden plan. A bit of a tidy up, a watering for the hollies and bay that suffered a bit of neglect in the heat, front & side windows washed outside, and upstairs inside too. Now I can mow the back lawns naked!

Got my tool out early for a bit of hoeing before work. The weeds are relentlessly persistent buggers! I startled a muntjac behind the cart lodge first thing, that then bounded off down the garden. They seem to enjoy eating everything except the unwanted weeds 🤬

The heavy rain’s missed us, but cloudy drizzle makes for an ideal greenhouse day. The triffid tomato plants have been tamed a bit (a lot!) and the aubergines are coming on nicely. The first two were cooked for yesterday’s lunch - forgot to take a photo at lunchtime, so the pic is supper leftovers.
