2/ A Sept. 4 Supreme Court order may change that going forward, temporarily letting parties & JFCs access the same low ad rates that candidates pay. Since JFCs can also include super PACs, watchdogs warn it opens a path for outside money to buy airtime at candidate prices.

1/ During one week in early September, Sen. Susan Collins, a joint fundraising committee and a super PAC backing her each bought airtime on a Maine TV station during Wheel of Fortune. Collins & her JFC paid $2,200 per spot; the super PAC paid $10K - over 4x as much.
