There are definitely speedruns that I watch and feel like you arent playing a game and just playing an input simulator. OoT any%. Red/Blue any%. But calling that cheating? Nah. Theres a reason categories exsist. Outside of splicing, outside tools, and undisclosed tas-ing, you can't really cheat.

My single biggest concern going into the Avtivision era. Say what you will about 343 but how they handled the community and being open with this kind of thing was probably the best thing they carried over from the Bungie era. The Halo community is non-exsiatant today without it.

Halo Reach cant be touched as a complete package. Forge is a good balance of map maker and game mode. Crazy customization in Firefight, Forge, and customization. Pretty good campaign But its the worst Bungie Halo when it comes to sandbox, encounter design, and especially AI. Its noticably less fun.

I say this to Halo fans about Campaign Evolved and now Zelda fans about the OoT remake: If you want a 1:1 upscale version, play the original with mods. Why bother remaking a game if you don't do some hindsight changes? If not being 1:1 is you're complaint, you'd never be happy with the remake.

Ocarina of Time remake looks good, mostly. My gut reaction was negative but by the time the trailer was over, I saw the vision. It has a solid art direction that isn't "Zelda in Unreal." That's said, Link looks too detailed compared to other NPCs and his and Zelda's faces feel really uncanny.

Its amazing how a game like Halo Infinite is "dead" because there are "only" a 3k players on Steam but you get online and you find matches within seconds and aren't playing the same people every game. Who knew there was a difference between what hater say and the reality of playing the game.

The rerecorded voice lines in Campaign Evolved are genuinely good. It really is a shame that most people won't play the game enough for them to grow on people. They're different. It's weird. I get it. The OG lines are ingrained in my mind forever. But the new lines are good in their own right.

Hot take: Outsourcing and asset reuse for video games isn't automatically bad, especially if the art style and the game itself feel cohesive. And whether a game is outsourced literal makes no difference to the player. Only Gamers who think themselves serious critics care so they sound smart.

I played Halo 1 for about 20 minutes on the Xbox at a friends house in 2003. I was struck, and kinda freaked out by, the monk chant. Forgot about the game until my Mom bough me and my brother the Halo Xbox that came with the game as a gift for dealing with her going through Seminary.
