My first thought when I saw that the largest cuts (48%) were in Chronic Disease research was that they know it’s cheaper for the government to let people with chronic disease just die. Otherwise their Medicare could rack up a lot of ongoing costs over many years.

Wealth Taxes If we really want to get a handle on the greedy elites, wealth taxes need to become the norm and tax avoidance must be treated as tax evasion - a criminal offence. This won't turn elites into philanthropists or altruists, but it will certainly make them respect democracy more.
