We had to put up with years of "git gud" and "learn to code" from gamers and programmers but somehow "git gud" is not an acceptable response when sloppers insist that they can't possibly create art for their game without AI

I don't want to play realistic-looking games. I want to play stylized games with unique art direction!

Why is the default "get a day job" rather than "start a business".

Had I not decide to be fiercely loyal and dedicated to a company for years because a "stable" job, and did what I wanted to do, I might have a couple games on Steam by now.

Why be the CEO of a software company when you hate code so much?

Someone on here said that videogames offer a fantasy of predictable rewards for one's work, which in real life might not be rewarded at all. I think about it a lot!

You can do everything right, pass all the stages and even the final interviews, yet still get no offers. Meanwhile a $100B billionaire could fund 49,750 working-class people to never work again, each with $40K/year for 50 years.

"...the gravest sin you can commit, at least when it comes to games, is to look at games strictly as these commercial objects." Oh this video is the *good* shit Everything about games, and life, is better when we stop seeing art as functional products meant to deliver return on investment

I develop software in primarily imperative programming languages from JavaScript to Python to C/C++ and I have a preference for gamedev. I dream of working at a well-paid remote-only worker-owned cooperative. If such a place does not exist, or out of my reach, I think I want to start one. Maybe.

CEO pay is up 1,085% since 1978, while typical worker pay is up just 24%. Why do we always hear "we can't afford to pay our workers more" but never "we can't afford to pay our CEO more"?

i sometimes joke that social media is gamification of relationships for surveillance capitalism. i wonder how it would be if it was “ungamified”. does the numbers game make it addicting & keep us coming back? can *just* making connections with people, without that urgency for competition, be enough?

When I said by 10th March, she said "don't move the goal post", because my wife said 28th February earlier. But now she wants us gone by 18th February. 2 days! She said if we want to stay the week we need to pay for next month too. She said we have to leave but we can come back to take our things.

I'm slowly getting into astrophotography for fun. Here is M44 / NGC 2632 Praesepe a.k.a. Beehive Cluster in the Cancer constellation. Taken on a Canon EOS 550D with a 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 kit lens (already broke my bank with these, can't afford better equipment, so no star tracker too! 😂).
