#TFTD Even though the mechanisms of RAE are likely to become ineffectual from around age 18, RAE is often found in senior professional sport as an artefact of earlier developmental selections. A recent study showed 31% Q1 v 19% Q4 across 10 seasons of 5 major Euro soccer leagues.

#TFTD Should the ECB fund a programme for genuine late developers or carry on funding a 2nd/3rd chance for early developers who are unlikely to return to pro cricket?

#TFTD If the new (dubious) development model is for the best state school kids to be highly scouted by independent schools and given (full?) scholarships at 13, do we think there may be a bias towards early developers???

Our 1st panel at #CRN2026 is on Gender. Two brilliant presentations first up centring on lived experience of female cricketers in franchise comps, including The Hundred. Huge contrast between hype of "equality" & persistent disparities in Georgia Norman's interviews with players. I gasped at this!
Quote from an interviewee: "At [franchise], the men's team were getting food and we weren't. They were having their dinner cooked for them every night for free and we were going out or getting delivery. There was food in the team room, but it wasn't for us, it was for the men."

REVIEW: Dynamic Coaching — A Playbook for Cricket Coaches
I have very much enjoyed reading Dynamic Coaching — A Playbook for Cricket Coaches by Ian Renshaw assisted by Stephen Rollnick. Ian Renshaw’s presentations to the ECB Coaches Association Conference in 2017 were one of my earliest practical introductions to the constraints-led approach, and provided a justification of my own preference for games-based learning. I have been waiting for this book since then!
