It is a sanctuary for many. One of the things in life that shouts community; that with its changes of pace reflect the day to day passages of life.

www.telegraph.co.uk/cricket/2026... This feels significant - the real financial problems of inserting a franchise tournament into the peak of the season continue ‘Vitality ends eight-year association with limited-overs competition, which is fighting for prominence since emergence of the Hundred’

Written before the latest round of the championship where Ethan Bamber helped to illustrate my point perfectly! Thank you to The Cricket Paper for this season.

More cricket skies ❤️ Yesterday I swapped the press box at Taunton to watch my son play at Chulmleigh - A lovely day with a huge home crowd of families celebrating, a fantastic tea, an ErraticsCC hattrick & one of our players became the second all time run scorer with 11,498 👏

Congratulations Warwickshire. Congratulations to Ethan Bamber & his 69 wickets this season at an average of 19.39 - A fabulous effort from a really important county cricketer 👏👏 What a fabulous team they are - here’s hoping Edgbaston realise how good their championship side is.

I’ve been so lucky to be at Taunton for the last 2 days in the company of giants of the game and one of the best views in cricket. Also what a fantastic turnout of fans allowed on the pitch. And finally congratulations to one of my favourite players - Tom Lammonby for his 100 👏

I’m getting the train to the final round of the Championship. Somerset v Surrey. It’s a beautiful day & it’ll be busy. THIS is what it’s all about for me. No expectations- I’m more resigned but I know this round will be full of drama. What a fabulous Championship we have!

‘In all honesty, there’s nothing Tom Banton could do in three bilateral ODIs against Sri Lanka this week that would mean as much as a match-winning hundred in Somerset’s first championship.’ www.theguardian.com/sport/2026/s...

Somerset are poised to finish second again – and after 136 years it still hurts

The County Championship gets treated like sporting Victoriana by the game’s leaders but it’s some of the hardest cricket there is and it still means plenty – especially in Taunton

Yesterday we played a fun timed game at Harberton CC. It was an exciting draw with Erratics CC 9 wickets down. It also saw my son reach 600 wickets for the club 👏👏and JK the most dismissals behind the stumps 🏏👏

This is great news! It has been a massive source of frustration that i cannot travel on other train companies when my trains are FREQUENTLY cancelled. It’s absolute common sense & a step towards nationalisation 🙏🙏 www.theguardian.com/business/202...

It feels like there is a lot of short-term thinking in cricket at the moment with a real lack of cohesion. The cost of cricket highlights this muddled thinking.
