Heliotrope and Sorrel stand on the threshold of her old house looking into a small but quaint hallway. An ornate light fixture hangs from the ceiling, coats and shoes line the nearest wall, mail is collecting on the floor by the mail slot, and a wilted flower drops its petals from a vase on a chest of drawers. It's dark out, but even darker inside, so the two vampires cast a long shadow, backlit save for their piercing red eyes. They pause there a moment, their faces in shadows. Sorrel, gravely: "May I come in?" Heliotrope, emotionless: "Yeah." As Sorrel speaks, different panels show rooms that can be seen through archways in the hall. "It's best not to turn the lights on. Your neighbours might get suspicious. You shouldn't have much trouble seeing." More dead house plants in a small carpeted living room. A coffee table by an old fireplace has a half-finished jigsaw puzzle with three distinct piles of pieces and more games underneath. A dining room has a hutch, bookshelf, and still cuckoo clock. On the table is a school backpack, its contents spilling out, a water bottle stood next to it. Sorrel: "Was there a room you wanted to start with?" A sofa shaped for one of the house's small bay windows, its blinds not drawn, open books scattered on its cushions. "Or we could just put a bag in each one and see what strikes you."

Sorrel puts a hand on Heliotrope's shoulder. "Poppet?" Heliotrope jumps and turns to him; she says nothing, but the curve of her brow and her wide eyes communicate that she may feel overwhelmed by the reality of her situation. Sorrel pauses before he continues, his face passive, non-judgemental. "We have all night. Or we could come back another time, if you'd like." Heliotrope turns to face forward again and frowns. "My bedroom was upstairs," she says, taking the suitcases up an L-shaped staircase at the end of the short hall. "Lead the way," Sorrel says, adjusting his own bags. Heliotrope is not reflected in the hall mirror.

More writers need to let their characters and stories be messy!! I don't necessarily mean going out of your way to introduce drama for the sake of drama. But I do think a lot of writers see the opportunity for mess, but get scared, and try to neutralise it rather than digging into it

I've had to unfriend a few fans lately, all for the same reason. They made ridiculing, unkind, and in some cases outright cruel comments about pictures I posted of young women cosplaying Jessica.
More than a person, Jessica is a state of mind. To play Jessica, you need self -confidence, a sense of humor, and a Jessican -attitude-. Je repense à ce post et c'est un sujet qui me parle, je l'évoquais déjà en 2015. C'était dans les bonus de "Notes" tome 9 (pas cher). Et comme l'autopromo est ma passion, voici les pages en question:

Une page de BD sur le thème de la création d'une BD. Boulet explique que le procédé est long: des heures de réflexion, de notes, de travail sur le scénario et le cadrage, avant d'obtenir (des mois plus tard) un livre dont on espère qu'il va intéresser les gens. C'est une forme de communication extrêmement laborieuse, d'où l'agacement des auteurs/ices quand on leur dit que c'est un métier de "Grands enfants".
(La dernière case reprend l'expression et montre un Boulet-bébé en couche en train de taper une feuille avec un pinceau.)

Case 1: "Raconter des histoires est probablement l'une des plus vieilles caractéristiques de l'espèce humaine" (On voit Boulet en homme des cavernes, en train de montrer à son public un mammouth dessiné sur la paroi) Boulet: "Et là l'éléphant se rend compte qu'il est chauve et s'écrie 'Ma moumouth !'". Le public rigole: "LOL", "À quand un album de la grotte ?"

Case 2: "Pourquoi associer ça systématiquement à la putain d'enfance ? Tout le monde lit, va au ciné, tout le monde écoute des histoires"
(On voit Boulet dessiner, une grande main lui tapote la tête et une voix dit "La Bédé ! Tellement mignon !" - Texte off: "J'aimerais qu'on réalise que beaucoup d'intérêts 'adultes' sont beaucoup plus puérils"

Boulet: "Oui alors dans ton panier, là, le Marc Lévy et l'album de la "Nouvelle Star" c'est vachement pensé ADULTE"

Case 3: "Par exemple: Un adulte qui joue aux cartes, aux dominos: Pas de problème. Une grille de Sudoku ? Très adulte. En revanche..." (On voit un adulte jouer aux legos, une voix off dit "Haha c'est un peu un original, votre ami, non ?") "Un adulte qui joue aux Legos, ou avec des cartes Pokemon ? La honte ? Il n'y a pourtant aucune raison logique à ça."

Case 4: "En tant qu'adulte, on peut faire CE QU'ON VEUT, QUAND ON VEUT. Un ancien footballeur américain, Rosey Grier, a fait beaucoup parler de lui parce qu'il était passionné de POINT DE CROIX." (On voit l'homme en question brandir son ouvrage.)

Case 1: On voit Boulet avec une casquette en train de lire sur une plage. "Je me suis rendu compte de ça un jour en lisant un Dan Brown sur une plage."

Case 2: Boulet de loin, de dos, sur la même plage. "Je crains le soleil, je n'aime pas la foule. Je n'aime pas la chaleur. Et Brown écrit comme un cul. Je me suis dit: "Mais bon sang, qu'est-ce que je fous là ?""

Case 3: Boulet sur sa plage regarde son téléphone: "Finalement le meilleur morceau de cette journée étaient les commentaires jaloux sur le statut Facebook" (Les commentaires affluent: "Rhaaa je veux !" - "Gnagnagna" - "Veinard" - "Putain la chance" - "Profite bien" tandis que Boulet pense: "Ne pas leur dire que je souffre le martyre."

Case 4: "Maintenant je gère mieux mes envies et je laisse tomber "Ce qui se fait".
Boulet lit un commentaire: "Hihi je suis à la plage hihi" et pense "Oh, la pauvre !" Il est dans son intérieur, bien au frais, assis sur un canapé confortable une bière à la main, et joue à l'ordinateur sur son portable ouvert sur ses genoux.
