Wealthy Gulf countries are some of the United States’ closest partners. But the US-Israeli war with Iran has pushed them into a conflict they did not choose. Host Jonathan Guyer is joined by @omarrahman.bsky.social to discuss how the Gulf has navigated Trump, Iran, Israel, and Palestine.

So, Israel ended the ceasefire 3 weeks ago. Has it recovered a single hostage through the killing spree that has commenced? No.

This is a clear, unveiled message of intent to commit genocide. Either by extermination of the population or ethnic cleansing. Whatever happened to ‘never again’? What happened to ‘responsibility to protect’? Here it is, the crime of crimes happening in front of our eyes.

NEVER FORGET: there was a ceasefire agreement in place that would have led to the release of all the hostages. Israel’s government decided it would rather go back to slaughtering Palestinians, even at the risk of killing its own people in Gaza. The goal is depopulation. Full stop.

…this is insane????
interview between NPR (Martin) and Troy Edgar, deputy secretary of the Department of Homeland Security

Martin: Is any criticism of the United States government a deportable offense?

Edgar: Like I said, if you go through the process and you're a student and you're here on a visa and you go through it, at any point …

Martin: Is any criticism of the government a deportable offense?

Edgar: Let me put it this way, Michel, imagine if he came in and filled out the form and said, 'I want a student visa.' They asked him, 'What are you going to do here?' And he says, 'I'm going to go and protest.' We would have never let him into the country.

Martin: Is protesting a deportable offense?

Edgar: You're focused on protests. I'm focused on the visa process. He went through a legal process ...

Martin: Are you saying he lied on his application? He's a lawful permanent resident, married to an American citizen.

Edgar: I think if he would have declared he's a terrorist, we would have never let him in.

Martin: And what did he engage in that constitutes terrorist activity?

Edgar: I mean, Michel, have you watched it on TV? It's pretty clear.

Michel: No, it isn't. Well, explain it to those of us who have not or perhaps others have not. What exactly did you do?

Edgar: Well, I think it's clear or we wouldn't be talking about it. I mean, the reality is that if you watch and see what he's done on the university …

Martin: Do you not know? Are you telling us that you're not aware?

Edgar: I find it interesting that you're not aware.

Look how frightened these people are of anyone seeing what life is like for the people suffering under this brutal occupation. Look what they are resorting to to hide it. Incredible. www.washingtonpost.com/entertainmen...

New Gallup polls shows sympathy w/ Palestinians over Israelis continues to surge among Democrats in 2025. Less than 1/4 of Dems sympathize w/ 🇮🇱. Republican sympathy is 75% for 🇮🇱 and only 10% for 🇵🇸. Among independents its narrowing, 42 for 🇮🇱 and 32 for 🇵🇸, w/ trends moving definitely toward a reversal

However late, and with whatever flaws, the Egypt Plan is critical to countering Israel's aim to depopulate Gaza. But its sponsors need to go to Washington immediately to get backing from Trump, and have a contingency plan in place if that fails. Are they ready to stand up to Israel and the US?
