Complexity is gonna have an absolute field day. Time once spent on mechanical problems is now spent resisting the fractal expansion of surface area that must be polished. This by the wise @duncanjbrown.com captures it: mechanicalsurvival.com/blog/claude-...

Loving this great work by @oli.zilla.org.uk to bring together into an clear and accessible form some of the Problems With the #NHS #FDP. Example - it's NOT ACTUALLY FEDERATED! github.com/olizilla/fdp... 'Federated' is just a word they used to pacify privacy campaigners and clinical regulators.

Me & Carlos built a soundsystem, set it up at Cherry Garden SEN school for GlastonCherry, and pulled the sub forwards so everyone could sit or dance ON the bass. It was rad!
A hand built soundsystem. orange and gold midrange speakers surround two large titan bass speakers with big wooden scoops. Hand blown glass surrounds the crown of tweeters on top. A giant orange subwoofer box with deep yellow ports sits on the playground in front of it ready for dancing on. Carlos stands to the right of it turning up the volume on a stack of amplifiers.

at last we have taught the Katamari to roll itself.
the magical katamari ball is now self rolling. The junk accumulates without the prince. A cow wonders what will become of it's calf. A rainbow implies this is a good outcome.

there is a lot to doing open source well! it's worth being intentional about why you do it. it should make onboarding devs easy, foster external contributions & help users understand the public value they help to sustain and your commitment to delivering auditable services. a public repo is step 1.

Has anyone figured out how to operate and govern complex, critical, transnational digital infrastructure? Yes! The dangerous radicals from [*checks notes*] the finance industry solved that problem… 50 years ago. SWIFT is a coop of 10,000 banks that does exactly that — and there are other examples.

REOPEN THE REPOS! > Keep open by default. Making everything private adds additional delivery and policy costs, and can reduce reuse and scrutiny. Openness should remain the default posture, with closure used sparingly and deliberately. www.gov.uk/guidance/ai-...

Mythos' underwhelming results for curl are a great example of why Open Source is even more important now that we have access to these tools. curl is more secure because everyone can tinker with it. We should be doubling down on Open Source rather than closing projects in panic.

new asset-based class taxonomy just dropped! (Adkins et al, 2019) www.researchgate.net/publication/...
Diagram of 'The Asset Economy' depicting a five-tier class hierarchy.

Investors: Income derived from portfolios

Outright Home Owners: No mortgage; subdivided by those with/without additional investment properties.

Home Owners with Mortgages: Leveraged owners; subdivided by those with/without investment properties.

A red dotted line labeled 'CHURNERS' marks the structural divide. Above the line are those with housing assets; below are those without:

Renters: Divided into rent-free, waged renters, and welfare renters.

Homeless: Zero income from assets, wages, or the state.

Illustrates asset inflation as the defining aspect of social stratification.

Defines "Family name" as given name.

Defines "Given name" as family name.

indicates that both may have more than one value, but doesn't allow for either to have zero entries.

I've been working on a unified cli that works for github, gitlab, gitea/forgejo and bitbucket. So you (or a coding agent) doesn't need to learn 4 different sets of commands for what are basically all doing the same things: github.com/git-pkgs/forge
