⚠️ Up to 20 mm of rain, possibly intense, is expected Friday on wildfire-affected terrain in the North Okanagan, (e.g., Bradley Creek). Fire-altered soils repel water, trigger dangerous debris flows, road washouts (e.g., Westside Rd), and ash runoff into local water systems and bodies. #VernonBC

+12 h model run update. Rain starting around dawn. 20 mm forecast still holding; at times heavy (convective possible). Caution advised if downslope of wildfire-impacted areas. Look for Environment Canada warnings or alerts for official guidance tomorrow. #VernonBC

FIRMS overnight satellite passes appeared cloud-free, but will be impaired today. There are maybe 15 detections of 375 m resolution pixels for the seven remaining out of control forest fires up the Shuswap and Mabel drainages. Nothing particularly noteworthy on the map. #VernonBC

	• NOAA-20 and 21 and Suomi NPP NRT VIIRS: 375 m resolution.
	• MODIS: 1 km resolution
	• Landsat OLI: 30 m resolution.
	• Pixel centre point may not correspond to the exact coordinates of a fire if the fire is subpixel in area.

Spatial Data (gov.bc.ca):
	• Fire perimeter: Red line.
	• Evacuation Order: Transparent red.
	• Evacuation Alert: Transparent yellow. Note that the Alert label may be underneath an Order polygon.
	• Indian Reserves: Orange perimeter, may be difficult to see
	• For the most up-to-date evacuation information, refer to local agencies.

Note planned ignitions by BCWF are not always available with advance notification and may be part of the detections.

K51402 Quilpituk Creek 🆕🛰️ 5 Aug 2:57 p.m. 🕛 BCWS 5 Aug 11:13 a.m. 🔴 Out of Control 🔥 Rank 2️⃣ low vigour surface fire 🗺 742 ha, no growth Latest FIRMS hotspots are less than overnight, now only along the west and southwest perimeter. I expect BCWS will indicate perimeter has expanded west. #VernonBC

Note planned ignitions by BCWF are not always available with advance notification and may be part of the detections. Today, crews may continue to execute small sized hand ignitions on the northwest corner south of Irish Creek Road to remove pockets of unburned fuel between the fires edge and machine guards to protect structures in the area.
