The Fire Information for Resource Management System (FIRMS) provides near real-time (NRT) active fire detections from remote sensing satellites. Fire permitter (red line) and Evacuation Order (transparent red) and Alert (transparent yellow) data from gov.bc.ca.; Alert label may be underneath an Order polygon; local agencies have most up-to date evacuation information.

The Map:
The Fire Information for Resource Management System provides near real-time (NRT) active fire detections from remote sensing satellites. These are plotted with spatial info from BC Wildfire.

Satellite Data (NASA):
• NOAA-20 and 21 and Suomi NPP NRT VIIRS: 375 m resolution.
• MODIS: 1 km resolution
• Landsat OLI: 30 m resolution.
• Pixel centre point may not correspond to the exact coordinates of a fire if the fire is subpixel in area.

Spatial Data (gov.bc.ca):
• Fire perimeter: Red line.
• Indian Reserves: Orange perimeter, may be difficult to see
• For the most up-to-date evacuation information, refer to local agencies.

Note planned ignitions by BCWF are not always available with advance notification and may be part of the detections.
