New publication!! Well done Hugh!!!!Subgenome dominance is fluid and context dependent. We also reveal a strong dependence on the metric and classification thresholds which may explain previous contradictory reports. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1111/...

The degree and direction of subgenome expression bias in <fi>Brassica napus</fi> vary between cultivars, tissues and developmental stages
We show that subgenome dominance in Brassica napus is fluid and context-dependent, varying with genotype, tissue and developmental stage. Quantification reveals that the overall expression bias betwe...

Very happy to share our latest work on FLC and seed size in Brassica. FLC does not just have an effect on flowering. Two copies also show increased expression reaching a maximum in seed. Variation is associated with the sensitivity of seed size to vernalisation. www.cambridge.org/core/journal...

Characterisation of gene expression markers and glucosinolates during discrete infection stages of Pyrenopeziza brassicae in Brassica napus
Light leaf spot (LLS), caused by subcuticular hemibiotrophic ascomycete fungus Pyrenopeziza brassicae , is a major constraint on oilseed rape ( Brassica napus ) production, yet the genetic and biochem...

Very happy to announce that our paper on larval antibiosis in Brassica napus is now available!!! Unfortunately, a screen of diverse lines did not find reproducible resistance but this may change the way we look at larval studies in the field. scijournals.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/abs/10.1...

Larval antibiosis to cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) is absent within oilseed rape (Brassica napus)
We screened a panel of 98 Brassicaceae genotypes (97 Brassica napus and 1 Sinapis alba) for cabbage stem flea beetle (Psylliodes chrysocephala) larval antibiosis. We found limited evidence for antibi...
