iiinova — where your digital self keeps evolving

There’s less than 24 hours left before Steam’s Autumn sale ends. Here’s a thread of over two dozen recommendations! At its end, you’ll find two more threads with a particular focus on lower priced games.

A bit of both. I kept it at that angle to showcase the enemy being juggled but I think I'm also wiggling it. When Rena dashes back, the camera pulls back on its own. Otherwise, can't say I found issues with the camera.

Bonus: Valkyrie Profile. An immense game that everyone should play.

It's no wonder that we see such a game in 2026 with the complete collapse of the hyperliberal dream of the Abe years *and* with the major inflation in Japan. I talk about the furusato in the city in my video (www.youtube.com/watch?v=HI7c...), but this is the second path: neo-traditionalism.

A demo is now available for Furyu's Anomalith. Given that this is Furyu and that it's also written by Tanaka Romeo, I'm really looking forward to this and feel that it might garner a similar if not slightly better reputation as Qliphah: store.steampowered.com/app/4017880/...

“ANOMALITH” is a survival third-person shooter set in Japan, steeped in the atmosphere of liminal spaces and Showa-era retro aesthetics. To search for her missing friend, a girl steps into a world wri...

I think this sold me on a JRPG for sickos, one of the best genres as far as games (for sickos) go

Qliphah in Providence’s Shadow is a modern example of a JRPG which challenges the preconceived notions of the genre, and there is no need to wait ten years to retroactively praise it as a good game if we can do so right now: ogrerun.com/2026/10/06/q...

What makes Qlipah bold is not strictly its combination of genres but how those genres are combined

Finally, here are the last two threads I made during other sales, both with completely different games. Keep in mind that prices may differ and some games may not even be on sale, but it's still worth perusing through: bsky.app/profile/ogre...

Given the aesthetic comparison, I think CryMachina is the easier sale. “These beautiful gay robots are sad.” Say no more. I’ve bought thirty copies. At some point, it's left up to word-of-mouth. I love detectives, I love mystery, I love urban space, I love weird systems so this all appealed to me.

Cry Machina. An angel floats down to meet a robotic girl.

The robot and angel converse. The robot says, "I really am a robot. Haha, a robot and a beautiful angel in a sci-fi world...

But as a game, Qliphah doesn’t have the same capacity for mass appeal as these anime. Just look at the reviews. I’m not sure what more could have been done given what appeared to be a limited budget. RPG Site’s article on the preview indicates that the team was worried about scaring players.

Dragamation raises an interesting question with regards to how the game was marketed. A few points: Hirayae has stated at least three influences—Chainsaw Man, Tokyo Ghoul, and Jujutsu Kaisen. I think the art direction does recall all three (paranormal/urban/dark) bsky.app/profile/drag...

I'm telling you this one's got it. It is hard as hell on Dread mode, but it is extremely satisfying and rewarding in a way most just refuse to engage with. I'm so glad the people who are trying it are absolutely picking up what it's putting down.
