I think conversations about homophobia are definitely good to have in online game communities but I think people forget that it can also be used as a way to shut down criticism from women or other kinds of queer people

I guess what I’m trying to say is that as wonderful as it is that a lot of cozy game communities are very lgbtq friendly especially with ships/ocs- I’ve noticed that mlm aligned fans maybe don’t realize an accidental participation of misogyny or exclusion of non-cismale gay fans/creators

Like. I’m glad that these spaces make it easy to share their male gay ships comfortably but I don’t think they realize that the “over acceptance” of mlm ships has created a quiet way to hate femme characters or lesbian pairings that gets you called homophobic when you point out the inequality

Would I be an asshole if I said I’ve noticed people are quicker to accept “yaoi” type ships than trans or lesbian ships and sometimes they don’t notice the vibe is off when there’s an insistence to be like “this character belongs with men” for a lot of male and female characters

I think my time in cozygame spaces has only shown me that there is a HUGE problem with casual misogyny and transphobia specifically towards nonbinary/tranfemme ocs. Like. A lot of lesbian or transgender/canon ships get hella pushback or are completely ignored by mlm or cis/canon shippers.
