Happy Tuesday! How's the reading going? Is the TBR getting smaller or did you accidentally buy new books to add to it? If so, THAT'S OKAY! It happens. Just go with the flow. The bigger the TBR the better, that's what they say. (*We say that, it's us.)

first read of this year's #OcTBRChallenge is The Beast Who Begged Me by Leighton Greene. I've been looking forward to this one for a while. it was a fantastic ending to a great trilogy and definitely makes me want to binge read the related series again.

cover of The Beast Who Begged Me by Leighton Greene. most prominent feature are a pair of hands, tattooed at the knuckles. left hand is bandaged with blood showing through the white wrapping. figure is hinted at wearing a suit (given the white dress shirt cuffs). figure is shrouded in shadow and has hints of red flowers and grey snakes around it.

I finished Fahrenheit 451 yesterday (audiobook version and it was amaaaaaaazing) and they had a snippet of The Illustrated Man included, so that's now what I'm going to be listening to this week - it's a Ray Bradbury binge! What's everybody else reading today?

🍂📚🎃 HAPPY OCTBR CHALLENGE! 🍂📚🎃 It's the best month of the year and a time to look lovingly at all the books in your TBR piles and go: "Yeah, you know what, I'm going to actually try to read some of you!" That's it really. Cosy up and read the books you already own (to make room for more obvs).

Sadly my books are all jumbled together due to an ongoing project in our front room, so they really put the "pile" in TBR pile. But I'll still dig out a few to get through (hopefully more once the fireplace is tiled... *Sigh*)

A jumble of books with my current read-in-progress Moon of the Turning Leaves by Waubeshig Rice on top.

Don't have a TBR photo as I'm leaning into audio right now, but this morning I finished Fahrenheit 451 on audiobook and between Bradbury's writing and Penn Badgley's delivery, the whole thing was so exquisite and beautiful and timely that it entirely remade my brain chemistry. I am still in shock.

Here’s some I posted earlier. Subject to change at a whim! No challenges or targets as I’m not a fan of gamifying reading, but I’d like to get through some of these.

Krelloy
The historian
Catherine Crowe
The cormorant
A plagued sea
The beast of gévaudan
The tower of love
The cook
Darker than you think

It might be a quiet one this year because *gestures to everything* but the team is still going to be here, reading our little books, and checking in with you to offer hot chocolates and a cosy fireplace to read by. Come join us? Read some books on your TBR? Have a wonderful spooky month?

#10, my favorite read of the YEAR so far! Perfectly suited for an autumnal read: a haunting, rougarou lore ... read by the author, and timed during the early pandemic. I was so delighted by how much I enjoyed this book. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ #OcTBRChallenge
