That sounds a bit redundant, apologies, of course it’s disappointing. I mean more that it leads to negative reviews and opinions of the work, when if sought out under the correct assumptions, that negativity wouldn’t be as strong, or hopefully not exist in the first place.

Precisely! I understand wanting to draw new and younger audiences to her works but I don’t think conveying them as something utterly different is the way. It’s often very disappointing for people to find out a book isn’t what they were led to believe while reading it!

Austen’s books have gotten a TikTok romance book makeover and I am feeling really perturbed by this. 😳 We don’t need to overly re-market classics, to the point they become unrecognisable, or akin to works that are MUCH different. 💙📚 #janeausten #books #booksky

Today I’ve written another thousand words for my autistic burnout book, I’m trying to do it in bursts to compartmentalise/stop myself getting too absorbed, in order to avoid me falling into a pit of upset about it. It is working, but I wish I could just fall in and hyperfocus. #writing #autism

I honestly believe our most powerful position in a toxic time that feeds on cynicism, apathy,& despair is to genuinely care and act for a better world. Cynicism is our enemy. We should check it, incl. on the left. It’s not intellectually superior. It’s the virus they’re trying to infect us with. NO

I’m sorry to hear about your burnout, it’s horrendous to deal with. I’m at the 5yr mark & only just starting to find joy in things like I used to. There’s so little autism wise full stop really! I’m definitely going to make something, it will probably be mostly personal exp rather informative tho 🖤

I’m finally starting the process of thinking about my autistic burnout (2019-present) thanks to therapy asking me to perhaps discuss it. I’m thinking perhaps a good way to process it would be to write a short book on autistic burnout? Memoir-esque, personal, illustrated? #autism #audhd #booksky 💙📚

“When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.” - Maya Angelou #fuckfascists

A side by side image of Elon Musk doing a Seig Heil Nazi Salute alongside an image of Hitler doing the same. The image shows the identical pose and angle of the fascist gesture. Underneath the text reads the Maya Angelou quote: “When someone shows you who they are, believe them the first time.”
