More Disco Wizards! Here is a third version, also for free perusal and comment. Pic is for attention, and as previously comes from layering creative commons images - no AI involved! drive.google.com/file/d/1nWh_...

Today in #whattheFacebookisgoingon, this is apparently an "ad". God only knows what for. (CW for mention if not description of domestic violence)
A screenshot of a Facebook post, categorised as an "ad" (so presumably someone paid for me to see this?) Text reads:
The shower.
Reluctantly I awake, my sightless eyes stuck shut with caked on sleep. After a moment or two my eyelids manage to overcome this glue. The room is a darkened void, a capsule, set apart from the normal parameters of time, day and date.My mind is slow to thaw, in this twilight zone coherent thought does not flow.
Memory floats between day and night.Rising for a peek through the curtains and rewarded with the burning light and heat of the noon sun.An involuntary wince at the outside world.
Free at the end of another four shift block. My stiffened limbs get me into the bathroom and salvation. Not the answer to all life,s problems but a decent start.Soon hot water starts to relieve the staleness, so much I'd rather not relive. The scent of shower gel and shampoo seems almost alien set against the dim memories of last night's shift.I emerge outwardly clensed but inwardly burnt. The next stage greet my dogs and get a brew on.
The hardest part is now to follow. My two dogs snuggle up on the couch.Although part of me doesn't want to, I need to analyze, to revisit, to make sense and logic where there was little or none to be found. The usual pattern, the usual emotions, in the face of ignorance, indifference and occasionally annoyance.Arrogance and entitlement bring about a reliance on protocols and rules.Hardest of all to deal with ? the cold eyes of an assaulted woman, seriously beaten by a drunken partner - two of them to deal with.
Him a waste of skin, threatening, belligerent and full of his own shit. Her, the polar opposite, subdued, shattered and hollow eyed.Somewhat unnervingly she seems to be able to see right into my soul, to see I have nothing to give her to mend her broken situation.Another night, another ride on your emotions.Almost at the end and the hardest test, a cot death or for us a neonatal cardiac arrest.Thought and emotion suspended …

New podcast! Solo minisode where I attempt to work out why the hell my Facebook feed is inundated with enough low-stakes beef between micro-influencers that ones of them just ended up in court. tinyurl.com/res-rec-94
Some bullshit with a robot brain and a bottle of poison that I put together on Canva by layering images. On top is text which reads "Reserved Recommendations #94: What the @#$@ is happening on Facebook?"

The missus made me a present of a bunch of mystery paperbacks (wrapped in brown paper and numbered) a while ago. She doesn't know ow what they are, she was told they were scifi/fantasy and nothing more. This is #22, and it is... not sci-fi or fantasy!

Swiped from Fb "memories" - a reminder of the days when people still did basic image manipulation for their shitposts
Art (presumably from a 40s "Men's magazine" showing a man fighting a tiger with his rifle butt. Superimposed on the image are speech bubbles reading "I'm telling you for the last time, I don't want any frosted flakes!" and the tiger's response "But they're grrreat!"

TTRPG people - is anyone keen to read/playtest a short (one-shot) game about Disco Wizards? It is both more serious and a dumber joke than that sounds like. Pic for attention, no AI - merely superimposing Creative Commons images over one another as God intended.
An avuncular wizard holding what may be a walky-talky or perhaps an old-style cellphone is superimposed on a scene of a forest festooned with disco balls.

Stolen from Fb. I understand that the person who made it is shitposting and did not think about this at all BUT in precisely what way is Bob Marley the midpoint between Bob Dylan and Bob Weir?
Text reads "Bob is a spectrum", underneath is a double pointed arrow indicating the spectrum with Bob Dylan on the right, Bob Weir on the left, and Bob Marley in the middle.

New podcast! In light of the sad passing of National Treasure Sam Neill, the only appropriate response is to talk about what is possibly his weirdest role in "Possession" (1981). The wonderful @liz-shrikestudio.bsky.social and @eerieseymour.bsky.social join me to discuss the horrible worm (divorce)!
A still from the 1981 movie "Possession" showing Sam Neill holding Isabelle Adjani's face in a way that is deeply uncomfortable while she cries. The text superimposed on it reads "Reserved Recommendations #93 "Possession" (1981) with Elizabeth Little and Errol Seymour"

New podcast! This episode I talk to the amazing Whaitiri Tua-Warbrick (@maoribytheriver on Insta) about his one of his favourite movies, 2004's 6-Hanks outing "The Polar Express" a movie which I describe as the result of attempting to describe Studio Ghibli to a space alien.
A still from "The Polar Express" (2004) showing the eponymous train from an incongruously-menacing hero angle. Superimposed on the image is the text "Reserved Recommendations #92 "The Polar Express" (2004) with Whaitiri Tua-Warbrick.

I dunno about *favourite* favourite but I love Victor G. Ambrus, and feel like he's kind of underappreciated. Incredible range from epic to goofy, and gorgeous colours.
The cover of a Dracula omnibus by Victor G. Ambrus, featuring his shabby, corpulent, cartoony take on the Count.A more realistic fairytale illustration showing a caped man standing with his hand on the head of a kneeling teenage girl. The cover of "A Country Wedding" by Victor G. Ambrus showing an anthromorphic fox and wolf dressed in rustic clothing. The wolf has a thistle in his paw, and the fox is carrying what looks like a bottle of fizzy wine.An illustration from the life of King Arthur, showing Merlin talking to the young Arthur by Victor G. It's my wife and my birthday (ish - we generally celebrate around King's Birthday because long weekend) and youngest kid made us these. They've got badge backing to be worn as brooches and she's hand painted them in nail polish on sculpy-type clay and then finished them with clear nail polish.
Two badges in the shape of humans faces, a man and woman.

He is wearing a ruffled shirt, flares, a mid-calf jacket and a wide-brimmed Hendrix-type hat. Basic perhaps but my first love's always going to be Smaug, 'cos I got The Hobbit as a bedtime story very young. I love a dragon who talks, and I love Smaug's characterisation as cunning (but not as smart as he thinks he is) and hopelessly vain.
Smaug the Magnificent from the 50th anniversary edition of "The Hobbit" with painted illustrations by Michael Hague. Smaug is spread out on his treasure pile, and in the bottom right of the image you can make out Bilbo's shadow (he's wearing the Ring so he's invisible) on a wall.
