#OTD in 1862 one of the most bizarre episodes in American military history played out in the lobby of the Galt House Hotel in Louisville, Kentucky. During a heated argument between generals Jefferson C. Davis and William Nelson, Davis obtained a pistol and mortally wounded Nelson.
