Very cool AI tool can predict individual risks for over 1000 diseases, based on healthcare data. An interesting proof of concept for what AI in healthcare could look like. The work was done at @ebi.embl.org and @dkfz.bsky.social. Check out this great write-up by @vickyhatch.bsky.social! #AI

EMBL-EBI is part of the Solve-RD consortium, a project for rare disease data collection and harmonisationScientists identified a novel mechanism driving osteosarcoma, a rare bone cancer in children, to help predict patient outcomes.Visual metaphor showing the transport of vitamin B1 in the body.

Structural biologists revealed how mutations in a key protein cause vitamin B1 deficiencies in the brain, leading to rare neurological diseases.
