The Eternaut (Oesterheld/Breccia) is one of the greatest comics ever created. It was created in a time of rising political dictatorship and its author was “disappeared” a few years later. I beg you to go and read it. It is the last story on earth that should have gotten the AI slop treatment.

New video on YouTube and Nebula. “Superman is a Nazi” Wherein I discuss how critics have called Superman antisemitic since his creation, mostly as a way to push their own agendas. Free Palestine. nebula.tv/videos/nerds...

About me: I have never seen a John Wick movie because I know what happens to the dog in the first one and I'm just not strong enough.

Comics really open up a lot when you stop focusing your reading exclusively on specific DC/Marvel characters and instead follow around writers and artists whose work you enjoy because you will almost inevitably open yourself up more to new stories, genres, and voices.

10. My partner & I recently watched Summer Time Rendering, and there’s a particular theme of the protagonist repeating “I need to take a step back and get the bird’s eye view” It was a charming little quirk at first, but as the series was coming to a close… it just kind of hit me as “dissociation”

9. God, Blue Beetle was such a nice movie It had no business being so sweet and heartfelt as a love letter to Latinx culture, comics, & community It was really HERE and it left nothing but inspiration for the millions of Latinx viewers who’ve gotten the chance to see themselves and their history…

8. Capping off my Bleach-related-ramblings (for now), I want to move away from the Thousand Year Blood War arc in the manga to talk about an element that the anime adaptation has introduced that I feel subtly adds more depth to the core conflict of the arc — the opening sequence to Cour 3.

7. I don’t think I’ve ever been so hooked on a book and soaked up every panel & page as I have with Its Lonely at the Centre of the Earth (I know, I have terrible taste in books) It’s honest and heavy, but also cozy at the same time… and I can’t recall the last time a book’s made me cry so much.

I don't know who needs to hear this, but you don't need to justify your reading preferences and choices to anyone. Audiobooks count as reading. Also, you don't have to finish books you don't enjoy. Don't read to impress, read for yourself. Life's too short, love yourself, ok? Signed, a librarian.

This thread was a series of ramblings with metaphors on top of metaphors and symbols within symbols, but if you had the patience to read through it and somehow get a comprehensible takeaway from it all, then thanks 🤷🏽‍♂️

6. Picking up where I left off yesterday… 👀 TL;DR on yesterday’s post: -I think Bleach is cool -I have thoughts about the final arc of Bleach and it’s relationship to creator Tite Kubo -These thoughts are speculative, so please forgive any errors I may make -Spoilers for Bleach TYBW

5. I like Bleach. I like it a lot. And in anticipation for the next new episode of TYBW, I want to write about some elements of the manga’s final story arc and how they make me wonder about their relationship to creator Tite Kubo as well as his experiences as he was finishing the manga… [Spoilers]

4. America Chavez 🌟 as a character holds a really special place in my heart I’ve done a video on her solo series before, and I really want to make another to say a lot more stuff about her… But today I want to write about a small moment from her 2021 mini-series — America Chavez: Made in the USA

Reading comics with your loved ones (like being side-by-side with each other reading the same book) is a really magical connection Reading a comic together the same way you would watch a show or a movie together was something I never knew I would love so much 10-out-of-10, would highly recommend ✨

2. I ✨LOVE✨ The Many Deaths of Laila Starr by Ram V & Felipe Andrade It’s a book FLOODED with gorgeous color palettes, curious little characters, and scenes brimming with life on every page… And it all wraps a beautiful bow around the book’s plot: how Death is forced into reincarnation on Earth…

1. About a week ago, my best friend gave me The Nice House on the Lake by @jamesthefourth.bsky.social as a gift for my birthday. It was something he read about a year ago now, but as his friend who loves consuming/making content about comics, he knew I would like it. (Spoiler-free ramblings ahead)

Hi! 👋🏽 I haven’t “made content” in like 9 months at this point, but I’m always thinking about all the different types of media that I connect with as I move from one day to the next. So, I want to (try) to jot a bunch of my thoughts down by microblogging every day until 2025 rolls around!
