Jeremiah Bailey @ntecprof.bsky.social · 27/09/2026Neat! There seems to be a pronounced interest in Clement in Pseudo-Isidor-related texts and in late 10th-/early 11th-century reformist movements in Rome. 010

Jeremiah Bailey @ntecprof.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Even if someone "invented" some new AI method with a trendy BS name like "Agent-Based Probabilistic Networking," all that would happen is the locus of discussion would expand to include this new type of data, and it would take its place in the perpetual methodological cycle. 120
Jeremiah Bailey @ntecprof.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Machine learning has its place in helping us assemble a corpus for study, but it can't do the analysis for us (the endless promises about what is around the corner do not make much of an impression on me either). 211
Jeremiah Bailey @ntecprof.bsky.social · 09/09/2026Solving Math problems, even complex ones, is not very much like answering historical questions. AI might help us find, assemble, and sort data, but its assembled outputs are only pseudo-evaluative, being determined by probabilistic imitation of our speech/writing patterns. 220

Jeremiah Bailey @ntecprof.bsky.social · 15/07/2026I appreciated that at the end she made sure to point out how much his own attempts at strike breaking were responsible for his predicament. I also really appreciated the nods towards religious tolerance as well, some of which were surprisingly overt for a Victorian novel! 020

Jeremiah Bailey @ntecprof.bsky.social · 13/07/2026Just finished Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South. I see both why she is compared to Austen and why see has not quite the same following. All said, though, it was a solid Victorian novel, and if you enjoy them, you will likely enjoy this one. 110
