I'm not sure a political cartoon where the rich are literally eviscerating and eating everyone else and they children would get approved for a national publication.

A human labor force is actually extremely efficient. The part that is inconvenient to capitalists is that humans want to be treated humanely and compensated fairly. It really puts a damnper on their business model based on extracting all possible value for the least amount of effort and money.

Our chopstick rest collection is starting off nicely. These two are getting cozy with each other. Though last night, I found them in a very x-rated position that I shant be sharing publicly.
A porcelain cat and a porcelain otter cuddling in a drawer. Extremely cute.

I cried the appropriate number of times at this year's BIG Conference. We are building such a special space for the basic income community and every year it's like coming back home to family. The vibes are immaculate when lived experience experts are among us as peers and leaders.

I want to honor David Cobb, who had been invited to speak on this panel on building a Solidarity Economy across movements. His sudden passing on Labor Day was a shock to us. He will be missed. Rest in Power ❤️

Heading to PDX for the 24th annual BIG Conference! My brainchild will be kicking off Day 2! My original pitch was "Fuck AI, Fuck data centers, give our money bank to us"

I'm devastated to learn my old friend and comrade David Cobb has died. 💔 His tireless organizing touched so many from the Green Party to his work challenging corporate power to his numerous projects for justice and liberation. He was a relentless visionary. Listen to him in his own words below.

Just heard the news. It seems like his heart gave out ❤️ I've only known him for a very short time, but he made a significant impact. Look forward to learning more about his work and continuing his legacy.

At one point I had been told it was an African Violet plant. Additional research forthcoming. Initial results say Beefsteak Begonia.

Finally got a cutting grown from my late grandpa's African Violet plant! He always had trays and trays of babies propagating around the house. The mother plant is easily more than 35 years old. He and grandma were a real Renaissance power couple ❤️

A Labor Day reminder: having a job is no longer enough to protect millions of Americans from homelessness. For many workers, the greatest threat isn't losing their job. It's that their job will never pay enough, never provide enough hours, never offer enough stability to keep them housed.

The city has to do something about all the traffic in South Lake Union! The ramps to I-5 on Mercer are a MESS! They should route traffic coming off the freeway in a zig zag pattern onto VALLEY and then ROY! This is how ridiculous the city planners are!

How old is the contributor? 15? Aurora didn't build its seedy reputation brick by brick over the course of decades only for some California transplant who attended Lakeside and only went to Mariners games at T-Mobile Park to think that Aurora was EVER reputable Amateur hour

Today is a good day to remind people that OJ Simpson was acquitted in criminal court for the murders of Nicole Brown Simpson and Ron Goldman. The family of Ron Goldman sued OJ in civil court for wrongful death. They won. $33 million judgement. They got his book money.

The rules of evidence for civil court are not the same as criminal court. What was suppressed or thrown out in criminal court might be allowed in a civil case. There will be a discovery phase and new evidence may come to light. Patrick would be throwing money at her to make it stop.

I'm hoping that the judge is just being super conservative and giving one last chance before bringing in an alternate instead of directly declaring a mistrial. Though honestly, I feel like the media coverage and conspiracy theories would make it impossible to retry with an untainted jury.

HW - Basic Income for All @notthathannah.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
This is why the additional jury instructions in the Clancy trial seem like they're pushing for acquittal. Because they are by design. In theory, the system is supposed to protect innocent people from abuses of state power 😂😂😂😂😂 If the jury is split, you must acquit. Don't be a bootlicker.

HW - Basic Income for All @notthathannah.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
That presumption of innocence is powerful, y'all. Guilt beyond a reasonable doubt is a high burden of proof for a reason. But the state is a well-oiled defendant eating MACHINE. If this all-powerful machine makes an evidentiary oopsie, it's not cute and the jurors shouldn't cut them a break.
120
HW - Basic Income for All @notthathannah.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
But most importantly, all defendants have the presumption of INNOCENCE until proven guilty. If the state wants to take your freedom or even your life (for capital cases), then they better be able to convince members of your community that you did it without playing dirty.

HW - Basic Income for All @notthathannah.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
In order to make it more fair, the state is required to investigate people fairly. There are laws around evidence collection, interrogations, conducting searches. It is the full time job of prosecutors, cops, and investigators to follow those rules. You don't have that luxury. You're a smol guy

HW - Basic Income for All @notthathannah.bsky.social · 04/09/2026
When someone is charged with committing a crime, by the time it gets to trial, the deck is already heavily stacked against the defendant. The state is a fucking JUGGERNAUT with all the resources, power, and influence at their fingertips to bury you if they really wanted to.

Later, the Seattle Times elaborates on this bonkers theory, saying explicitly that the mayor fired the police chief not for reasons, but because she's trying to "scapegoat" the former police chief to distract the public from her bumbling of a crisis that THE POLICE CHIEF MISHANDLED.
This must happen to assure the public that Barnes wasn’t scapegoated as an inexperienced mayor grappled with the first real crisis of her seven-month tenure.

What a batshit first sentence to an editorial excoriating the mayor of Seattle for removing a controversial police chief appointed by her predecessor, something our mayors have routinely done. The conspiracy brain at play: "How dare this scheming woman try to distract us from her incompetence!"
If Seattle Mayor Katie Wilson believed forcing out Shon Barnes as chief of police would put an end to questions about her leadership and lapses surrounding the Bite of Seattle shooting on July 26, she was very much mistaken.

TL;DR: The Seattle Times editorial board is showing its entire ass. They are desperate to have Katie Wilson fail, and they're willing to make up bizarre conspiracy theories to facilitate that outcome.

Abusers always have the shallowest "evidence" to prove they're actually not an abuser to the public. As if they aren't constantly training their victims to smile through the suffering to outsiders and punishing them for not performing normalcy/kindness after they've done something horrible.

Everyone is blaming Martha Reeves for botching up the national anthem at the WPBL Opening Day. What I want to know is what in the hell those two random yt women were doing on the field with microphones. Martha is telling the entire story with how far she moved away from them.

Oh, Mike McGinn If the centrist Seattle City Council (which included that fucker Brucey) hadn't been completely obstructionist, our city could have had: - NO Alaskan Way tunnel - pedestrian and bike-friendly infra - municipal broadband - light rail to Jimothy en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Michael...

No one was ready for Mike McGinn. Not even Mike, himself. He could have had a better shot if he came in after Ed Murray. Instead, we got a series of conservative dems one after another and progressives still get blamed. PROGRESSIVES HAVE NEVER HELD SIGNIFICANT POWER IN SEATTLE

A map illustrating the locations of police departments and other public safety agencies that have received Part 91 waivers, making it possible for them to launch drone-as-first-responder programs. (This map image links to Google Maps, which is governed by Google's privacy policy)
The new FAA process for waivers and the rush of police departments to obtain them signifies a shift in law enforcement's use of drones: from human-operated aerial surveillance to AI-based autonomous drone use.
