My son has been desperate to get his hands on my old BBC Micro, but I've been acutely aware that the Rifa caps in the power supply will have been rotten. Well, I got a capacitor kit, and he's only gone and replaced them. Damn it starts quickly!!

I bought a Minidisc player in 1997. It was pretty compact, and I was really happy with it for a long time. Going back to the format now, it's remarkable just how compact it became!

I bought a Minidisc deck. I just feel that the everything-always-available nature of streaming, or having 200GB of music in your pocket cheapens the whole experience. So I'm going to try something more curated. Unfortunately, I'm having to figure out how to copy tracks across with the track marks.

The polls are open for the Scottish Parliament, and the leaflets fall into two camps. 1) Vote SNP for *list of things* 2) Vote for us to prevent an SNP majority. It's like none of the other parties have an idea. They don't even seem to be contesting the constituency, but pushing for region votes.

@bitlevel.at - This is a 15yo Smokehead. The harshness of the peat mellows with age, so this is pretty smooth. It's made to be smoky, though. It's a single malt from Islay. I think this would be up your street, taking Laphroaig as your starting point.

I've had two Squeezebox Radios not working lately. Thought it was PSU, but that didn't fix the boot loop. Turns out they're looking for the old Logitech servers, filling their logs and crashing. Factory reset and we're good. First track on one - David Bowie, Lazarus. The other, PPK Resurrection.

Alright, it's Christmas. And that means it's time for a little honesty. I've had a large screen telly and at least 5.1 surround sound for 24 years, and I have the motion smoothing turned on in my 75" screen. Lowest setting, but I think it makes movies more immediate and engaging. Merry Christmas!
