.NET is actually fully open-source, so no problem with that - it's just generally lead by Microsoft engineers on practice as they are the ones who started both the development and open-sourcing efforts. There is Mono too, but the development stopped since .NET went open-source and cross-platform.

Started with it myself! It's a good language to understand how it all generally works. It also has a C-similar syntax, just instead of braces you have "begin" and "end". But if I can recommend you, try Luau - it has some features from more mature languages. Roblox has nice docs and application.

Of course you can argue about Java there too - but I'd say that dependency management and overall ecosystem is easier to use in C#, plus syntax sugar and all that. C++ is C++. TypeScript is genuinely a good pick though, especially with static typing not abstracting a very important detail to learn.

As far as I can see, nowhere my original comment claims that C# is the language you will miss. Rather, it makes a claim that C# is the best language for learning, as it teaches you a lot of very useful concepts applicable in fields from enterprise to game dev, and is relatively simple to use.

C# is probably the best language to start with. It's used everywhere (you are open for both enterprise and game dev with it), it's simple to learn and powerful when mastered, and it's easy to get quick results from it. I'd recommend C# Player's Guide as a very good book.

OpenOffice is very obsolete, don't use it - LibreOffice replaced it for quite long time. Brave also has a lot of controversial things, I'd recommend Waterfox instead. Otherwise I agree.
