One of my buddies put this in his ponza deck in order to beat my death and taxes deck, modern was so silly back in 2017

I have never really been a fan of sideboard guides either but I couldn't really put it into words why. You summed it up perfectly, it's a thing you'll reference for your upcoming tournament but it has a clear shelf life because the metagame doesn't stay stagnant for long.

I've been beating this drum in my circles since SOS previews ended. Erode was a huge upgrade to the deck and that's only team heavy play's version. Mtgo gamers just love their blue cards

Do you feel like this version is better against prowess in general? That's a matchup I've struggled with, I've even gone as far to add white back to the sideboard to combat it

I'm going to see if a lower to the ground landfall with some hexproof spells is a good way to approach the format.

I walked past my mom and sister watching normal live tv and there was a slots app ad. I literally stopped in my tracks, because I figured it was because I'm mostly on online spaces. It really is everywhere

I think the biggest takeaway is that winning ≠ being correct. Having a 15th card for an unpopular but bad matchup would always be better than having a companion that you can't pay 3 to add to your hand.

To tie it back to the original post, that's not really something anyone can control so long as magic is a trading/collectable card game. The players dictate the market

Luke (TheTaxCollector) @notirsaffiliated.bsky.social · 01/10/2025
Huge pauper head over here so I totally agree! But I never understood the rhetoric that a casual deck should be able to hang with a competitive one. It's way more than just $ that makes the deck better
120
Luke (TheTaxCollector) @notirsaffiliated.bsky.social · 01/10/2025
Why should a less tested deck be able to hang with very tested ones? That's like buying a keurig and being mad it doesn't make espresso

As someone who is only a comp player and doesn't enjoy commander, I saw this post and thought it was awful. It boils down to, "I don't like that people enjoy something I don't" and to the OP's point, restaurants do change all the time, to the excitement of some and the gloom of others.

I'm practicing for a sealed rcq and it makes it so much more difficult to retain info. Having even non legendary cards renamed is making it so difficult to become familiar with the frequently played cards.

Luke (TheTaxCollector) @notirsaffiliated.bsky.social · 28/08/2025
That just doesn't align with a game that releases 4-6 sets of new cards a year. Every format grows and changes as cards are added to them or taken away. You can likely still play your pauper archetype from 8 years ago, it just won't be the exact same cards.
000
Luke (TheTaxCollector) @notirsaffiliated.bsky.social · 27/08/2025
You are worried about a full format rotation with mh4, when that didn't even happen with mh3. They added archetypes, and lost some others for sure. But magic is made to grow and change, IMO it would be awful if a deck from 8 yeats ago was playable today

People buy them up like there's no tomorrow, why would they change it for the better? Genuine question from someone who only occasionally buys secret lairs, mostly basic lands.

It takes you from 1 to 3 mana the following turn without even playing an additional land drop. Its ability to allow you to have upwards of 4 mana on turn 2 is the problem. It's impossible to compare it to cards that take you from 1 mana to 3 mana on turn 2

I've heard a lot of people saying they think FF set is a low power level set and they don't think it has many cards that matter for constructed. I think otherwise, so here's a thread on cards I see with some potential.

I think it's mainly because a lot of the other decks that have blue and red also have phlage or other powerful 3 drops. Which makes it harder to actually turn EI into card advantage

I think the more important question is, "is the speed of games impactful to different levels of player enjoyment of the game? If so why is that?"

I would pick Fury, I believe it's the strongest card in the pack and it doesn't belong to any one draft archetype.

Red green eldrazi is specifically tuned to be better in the boros matchup, some people play mono g because they believe the deck is still good even without koz return. I haven't played eldrazi heavily since the one ring ban so I'm unsure which version is best.

Even accepting the premise that AI produces useful writing (which no one should), using AI in education is like using a forklift at the gym. The weights do not actually need to be moved from place to place. That is not the work. The work is what happens within you.
