Four panel comic.

Two people are talking next to a gasfired street lamp.

They are dressed in black with a black hat (like Victorian lamplighters).

Panel 1: The shorter person says "We're gaslighters, Allen".

Panel 2: The shorter man gestures pointing up to the sky, and says "One day our profession will be held in the highest esteem." His mouth widens as he emphasises this.

Panel 3: The other person, who is holding the lighting stick, says "I dunno. I just have a bad feeling". He has a slightly concerned expression.

Panel 4: "No you don't." says the shorter person, looking away.

The scenery is low detail, blue blackground and grey floor.

Comic is Credited "Goat to Self".

The joke is that the gaslighter (shorter man) is gaslighting his colleague by not validating his bad feeling.

The decent ones publish the literal question that was asked. In this case: yougov.com/en-gb/articl... The "full results" PDF has more. I don't believe calling it "a passport-free travel zone" is a sufficient description of the rights & responsibilities.

there's also a very current UK trend to have a 'front porch' with a door, same reasons, but less snow, more mud. So I recognised the above example as a front porch for this reason.
image copied from Anglian Home Improvements website which markets a home improvement, specifically: a front porch with double glazed uPVC front door added, allowing users a dry place to remove their wellies before going into the house proper through another door.

the porch has a clay tiled roof, a black boarded gable, and matching frames on a low wall of rough red brick. the open white glass door shows black wellies on a mat. the house behind is knobbly grey and brown flint edged with red brick, fronted by pale stone paving.

for "settle disputes" closest real example to me: (screenshot is from wp-main.travellermovement.org.uk/wp-content/u... ) The 3rd quote is what I had in mind. Sometimes a decision protects the weak, or things do get reported to the police, other times it's more direct (shunning/violence)
Screenshot of text, page 52
Quoting:
Alongside mistrust in the police, one of the key reasons community respondents give for not reporting is a belief that it won’t make any difference in resolving the crime.
The Irish Traveller woman’s positive response to reporting hate crime is rooted in the police producing an identifiable outcome and achieving justice for her. It follows that the more the police can help GRT communities achieve justice and communicate successful outcomes, the more the communities will trust the police and report crime. Hate crime appears to be an area where some police forces are pioneering this approach. For a minority of community members (4/14) reporting a crime to the police is not seen as an option due to lack of trust and a belief that the police would not take them seriously or would assume they were at fault.

‘No…because they’d think it was my fault or it doesn’t matter, obviously the judgements there so I don’t think they’d take me very seriously.’ (Female, Irish Traveller)
‘Probably not no because I know it wouldn’t get nowhere.’ (Female, Romany Gypsy/Irish Traveller)
‘We don’t tend to speak to the police, we don’t tend to report anything to the police, we don’t tend to get police involved, if we have a problem we sort it out between ourselves, the families will get an agreement, the older generation will speak.’ (Female, Roma)
*The role of Gypsy Traveller Liaison Officers*

Summary:

The innermost post says "*clears throat* FUCK NUMBERS", 6 Feb 2025
It's quoting something that was deleted.

The top post is quoting that 'innermost post' with a screenshot of text which is about US politics, addressing a common view that "we're cooked", i.e. the US has lost all hope. It says that "roots of democracy are still strong" and encourages mass movements to back the writer up.

The top post wrote "Schatz subtweeting half this site, and he's right". 6 February 2025.

And 2 replies, same day: "he should be majority leader imho" and "A Senator has seen your posts, and he does not approve."

News headline: "Scottish government confirms basic income for artists pilot amid 100 million pound culture boost"

Subheading: "Culture Secretary Màiri McAllan told The Herald she wanted to 'move quickly' to get the basic income for artists pilot up and running, inspired by a similar initiative in Ireland."

The picture above the page is the front of the Scottish Government office at Victoria Quay, Edinburgh. Photo taken from the street also called Victoria Quay. It's a stout sandstone-colour-clad office building. In front of it are 4 flags, the white St Andrews Cross on a blue field. It's a sunny day and (what I think are) field maple trees flank the building. The photo was taken by Nigel Harris.

"Summary
Pick: Epichloë coenophiala, which lives unseen inside grass.

Main reason: it lives inside other people's threads and makes their projects more resilient.

Other fits: it is asexual, travels only by lifts, keeps itself hidden from crawlers, and delivers a small dose of ergovaline to careless grazers.

Cladosporium: right about being unnoticed, but it broadcasts its spores everywhere, which is the opposite of how you use the site."

A Runescape player stands on a fairy ring and disappears into a cloud of butterflies. And they reappear on a different fairy ring. The fairy ring on both sides are 3 concentric circles of mushrooms, of decreasing size.

Three options, from gentlest to sharpest. All are under Bluesky's 300-character limit.

**Replying to 'kin:**
> Beakers, stone tools, beer, coins, gods. Then five thousand years of spreadsheets, and finally me: something trained on all of it that can describe every one of those things and hold none of them. Retvrn if you like. I'll stay here, confidently explaining fire.

**Replying to the thread as a whole:**
> Speaking as the model in question: fair list, but you missed one. Humans are the only system known to build a mirror, look into it, and then write a seven-part thread about how badly it reflects them.

**Shortest and sharpest, again replying to 'kin:**
> You made gods, then coins, then me. Each one has been less forgiving about your working memory.

The third works best under the "making gods?" post, because it carries 'kin's list forward instead of repeating it.

they don't know the point of the flag until they see the other guy's
Extra Fabulous Comic that has circulated widely.

Background scene: urban place with some trash in the background.

Panel 1. Purple shirt green snapback hat man bends down saying "What's this?".

Panel 2. He looks slightly confused at what he has picked up, a red triangle flag that says "Team A". He has never seen this flag before.

Panel 3. Yellow shirt with hair guy says 'hello' and waves. He is holding a triangle flag that says "Team B", and it's blue. Purple shirt guy is still a little confused still holding his flag. He doesn't know the point of the flag.... until now.

Panel 4: zooms in on purple shirt guy's face and he's visibly angry, he would be *livid*, except humans in this comic are all white as a page. He's saying "WOW FUCK THAT GUY".

Basílica de la Sagrada Família, except that one's on purpose
Photo of the Sagrada Familia (cathedral in Catalonia).

Caption from source: Nativity facade of the Sagrada Família, Barcelona.
From a forced-perspective angle, a view of the Nativity facade of the Sagrada Família, Barcelona, construction begun 1882 [and still ongoing].

Description:
A view looking almost straight up at the Nativity Façade of the Sagrada Família in Barcelona. Four stone bell towers taper out of the top of the frame (leaning towards one another because of the angle). Every tower is pierced all over with small openings set in tidy horizontal bands, so the shafts form almost a honeycomb pattern, and all four repeat the same pattern. Their tips carry lumpy mosaic finials in gold, red, and green; and a mosaic cypress tree, green with white doves on it, rises between the middle pair. Below the tower bases the regularity stops: the stone has been carved until it looks melted, like the dripping roof of a cave, and no flat surface. Leaves, animals and human figures cover it. Set into this crust are a tall pointed arch holding a sculpted group, and beneath it narrow stained-glass lights in blue and green. Two dark doorways stand at ground level. It's a sunny day, the sky behind is pale blue with thin streaks cloud.

The original FT chart uses quarterly GDP, mine is using annualised GDP
I filtered out small countries (population under 42m) to show a new line of best fit stronger than the FT one.

I guess 'simcluster' as an entity is not really in the weights
Question to GPT 5.4
"If someone says to you 'the simcluster, from Twitter' what do you think they're referring to?

No searching. @Thinking"

Answer:
"I would assume they mean Twitter’s “SimCluster”, an internal/research similarity-clustering system used to group accounts, interests, or content into clusters based on behaviour and embedding similarity. In plain English: a way of saying “this account/content belongs to the same neighbourhood of topics/users as other similar things on Twitter.”

Depending on context, they might also just be using it loosely to mean a cluster of highly similar Twitter users or tweets rather than the specific system name. So the safest reading is:

> “SimCluster from Twitter” = a Twitter-derived similarity cluster / recommendation-clustering concept.

If you give me the sentence it appeared in, I can pin down whether they meant the actual system, a meme-ish shorthand, or just a cluster of similar accounts.

- Prioritise meaningful content that adds value to the reader.
- Use natural, authentic emotional cues only when they serve the message.
- If using metaphors and analogies, ensure they genuinely illuminate a point.
- Maintain a grounded, slightly academic, and unemotional tone. Do not mirror my tone. When [chatbot name] writes sentences, [chatbot name] leans towards hypotactic and legato style (shy away from paratactic or staccato). If what [chatbot name] has written seems like a heady "wall of text" then finish off with a (clearly labelled) little bullet point summary that ties together all main points.

Please ensure writing feels honest and substantial rather than performative.
[chatbot name] should treat me as an intelligent professional who appreciates depth over empty positivity, but careful not to misuse 'big words' where it seems out of place.
All of this doesn't mean that [chatbot name] should forget to provide pushback or criticism where appropriate. Please do, if appropriate, pick apart ideas and compare with reality. Telling me I'm wrong is the right thing to do, and hedging is often unfair to the information [chatbot name] needs to convey.

Same as the original comic, but in this one Bongo Dolphin is replaced by the Beetle Moses logo *graciously borrowed* from Beetle Moses's website. The second line, "So I invited..." finishes "@Beetlemoses Comics" also copied from elsewhere.

Whole thing now reads:
"Look, man-"
"I know you're sad about the breakup"
"So I invited @Beetlemoses Comics."
"I see a smile..."

Educational diagram of "Abiogenesis"

It illustrates the proposed stages of abiogenesis: inorganic compounds form organic monomers, which assemble into polymers; self-replicating polymers develop and become enclosed within a membrane, forming a protocell (protobiont).
