I sent an email to my current landlords telling them I was looking to move out early—which they explicitly requested I do. As ever, however, they’re not responding.
As you requested, I have been looking for alternative places to live, and have found a couple options. Neither is set in stone yet-but while it's not impossible that both could fall through, it now seems likely enough that at least one will come through that I felt it proper to inform you; it's only polite that I give maximum possible notice and not spring this on you at the last minute.
Both places are willing to let me move in as early as November 7-which, as I predicted, is a bit more than a month after this email was sent, but it's the soonest | could manage.
Currently I have paid to you:
• $1,000 paid on September 25, for rent from that date through October 25
• $1,000 given at move-in on June 22, intended to cover the final month of the lease contract, November 25 through December 25
• $1,000 for security deposit
There are 31 days between October 25 and November 25, and 13 days between October 25 and November 7. Thus, assuming I move out on November 7, 1 propose that you keep $400 of the $1,000 l've already paid for the final month of the contract to pay for the period from October 25 through November 7, and return to me the remaining $600 to me along with the

This bus is nearly 20 minutes behind schedule, I’m ten minutes late for work. The bus driver is someone I’ve never seen before, and is an absolute asshole. She keeps yelling at passengers for not wearing reflective gear, and holding up the bus at every stop to do it.

This is the truth, by the way. We'll see if they actually get it to me in a timely manner.
There is something coming in the mail for me today that I think is actually important. Because in this case I am aware it's coming, I wanted to let you know.

Update: Well, that was fast.
Hi Phillip, we would be happy to show you the place sometime soon. We currently have a tenant, who is moving to Kodiak around the middle of the month. We can arrange a time to show you the place, after 5:00 pm. Sound like this location would work well for you. - John

Sent another email. Unlike them, I’m making sure I have citable documentation of these things. That way I don’t need to lie about it like they do. bsky.app/profile/nort...
I know we've discussed this previously, but it would be nice to be given my mail more than once every week or two.
I just grabbed the mail you put on the banister for me yesterday, and it was a pretty big stack, plausibly a couple weeks' worth. Most of it was junk, but among it there was an envelope labeled "Important, time sensitive"; this envelope was mailed locally from here in Anchorage, and contained a letter dated September 29. (For the record, yesterday was October 6.) I was not aware this envelope was coming, or else I'd have informed you-but I nonetheless don't think it's reasonable that I'm only receiving it a week or so after it was likely delivered.

This one just got back to me. As of Saturday it was still on Craigslist and had been posted for only four days. Notable because most of the rooms (or “rooms”) on Craigslist stay posted for a month or more.
Me: Hi there! I saw your post on Craigslist about the rooms available. I'd be interested in one!
I just recently (about a month ago) started a new job with the State of Alaska. I work downtown, and your place is much closer than where I'm currently staying. Would cut my commute time in half!
I'd love to come see the place! | could come by tomorrow or in the evening any day this week.

Them: Hello! Sorry for not getting back to you sooner. The room is no longer available. Best of luck!

Wynn Thornton @northwind.myatproto.social · 05/10/2026
I already checked in with a few friends, and they all agreed it's extremely suspicious. I tried to be fair, but everyone else said I was probably giving too much credit and was right to run away.
Them: No rental agency needs that info wtf

Me: Yeah, that's what I thought but also I've never really done a rental application
On the other hand, I viewed the property myself. Lotta effort to go through for a scam lol.

Them: I hate that we just live in scam world now

Me: My best guess is that the guy was probably legit, and just googled "rental application form" and used the first one he found
And because we live in scam world, the first one he found was nutso
But I'm not confident enough in that analysis to be willing to submit the form
So, no affordable rental for me.

Surprising absolutely nobody, they have not followed through. So, now I have exactly zero leads on places to live. Every even remotely viable place has ghosted. (Phone number not censored because it’s not a personal number, it’s a business.)
Text messages.

Saturday (a week ago):

Them: Monthly for one person is $1200, for 2 people it is $1300
and deposit is $500

Me: Yes, I'm interested in a room for one person, on a monthly rate. I work downtown. Would it be possible to see the room in the evening? I could be there at around 5pm most weekdays. I can also come to a showing on the weekend at pretty much any time between late morning and evening, if that works better (but would probably want to schedule for next weekend, not today or tomorrow).

Them: Sounds good, I'll reach out on
Friday

Today:

Me: Hi there!
I just wanted to follow up. I'm still interested in a showing!

There is no further response.

What the f indeed.
The WTForecast app, also saying that it’s snowing right now.
100
Wynn Thornton @northwind.myatproto.social · 01/10/2026
App still says snow, and not even “light” snow. And I look out the window and there just isn’t any. I haven’t seen the weather app be this wrong in a long time!
Apple Weather app saying 37°F and “moderate” snow. A shot of Downtown Anchorage taken out the window behind me. Today is a grey, overcast day and the streets are wet, but there’s zero sign of any snow.
110
Wynn Thornton @northwind.myatproto.social · 01/10/2026
WTForecast is also wrong, but less so. (There is no meaning precipitation at all right now, but it clearly has rained recently.)
The WTForecast app saying “Wintery Mix” and a couple degrees Fahrenheit colder than the Apple Weather app. Also with the quip “This rain is brought to you by the letters 'B' and 'S' and the number of the beast.”
000
Wynn Thornton @northwind.myatproto.social · 01/10/2026
App says it’s not even light snow, but in fact “Moderate” snow. (And at least for rain, what the app calls “moderate” is actually rather heavy, heavy enough you probably don’t want to be out walking more than a some steps in it.)
App saying the snow (that’s not actually happening) is heavier than “Light” on a categorization of “Light, Moderate, or Heavy.”

Email notification sent. If I’m going to be homeless again soon anyway, I’m going to be sure to have all the documentation of their shiftiness and bad faith.
You have claimed that I was in violation of the lease agreement because at times I was too noisy in the middle of the night (defined as 10pm through 7am). You have also claimed-falsely and without citing any specific dates, times, or channels-that you brought this to my attention prior to me being served with the form stating I needed to remedy the situation (which, as previously discussed, has been remedied ever since I started working and am in bed no later than 9 or 10 pm most days).
In light of the above facts, please be let it be known that it is currently approximately 11:30pm and for at least the last 27 minutes you and/or your acquaintances have been shouting loudly enough in the upstairs living room that I can hear it all the way in my room, downstairs at the opposite side of the house.
Previously I would not have brought this to attention; I would have let it go, in the interest of conflict-free cohabitation. However, since you have personally demonstrated that noise in the night is clearly a big deal to you, I felt it only proper to bring it to your attention (as you falsely claim to have done for me).

It's complicated. You have to update it by 30 days before the election to get full rights, unless you moved locally. If you moved to a different State Senate, House, or Judicial district, there is no way to have your vote counted on those races (neither at your old address nor at your new address).
If You Have Moved Within Your State

Regardless of whether the move is within the same precinct or to an entirely different part of Alaska, a qualified voter will have two options to vote if they missed the 30-day registration deadline to update their new address:

IN PERSON AT THE NEW LOCATION/POLLING PLACE:

Sign the questioned ballot register, vote a questioned ballot with the updated address to update registration. The Review Board will determine for which races the questioned ballot can be counted:

All statewide measures and questions, federal and state candidates for statewide offices, and Presidential/Vice Presidential election races WILL COUNT.
Move within the same state senate, house, and judicial district where the voter was previously registered WILL COUNT.
Move to a different state senate, house, or judicial district, then those specific election races WILL NOT COUNT. VOTE BY ABSENTEE BALLOT:

Apply for an absentee ballot by mail up to 10 days before Election Day, or by electronic request by 5:00 p.m. the day before Election Day with an updated address. If the move has occurred within 30 days of Election Day, then the following ballot races can be counted:

All statewide measures and questions, federal and state candidates for statewide offices, and the Presidential/Vice Presidential election race WILL COUNT.
Move within the same state senate, house, and judicial district where the voter was previously registered WILL COUNT.
Move to a different state senate, house, or judicial district, then those specific election races WILL NOT COUNT.

I think I’ll have to look at that on a PC when I have a chance? It appears unreadable on mobile. Their “live chat” popup comes up automatically upon loading the website. It obscures the entire screen and there no X or other obvious way to close it.

Looks like the registration deadline is a week from today. So, genuine question for #AlaskaSky: Given what I’ve discussed in my recent posts, there is a high likelihood that I will have a different residential address by the election, but I almost surely won’t have it within a week.

Me, on Sunday: Because I don't know how long it's going to take for me to find a new place to live--but there's a good chance it'll take more than a month--l intend to provide a check for $1,000 on or around the 24th, as agreed.
Please be advised l am going to want a receipt this time.

Me, 15 minutes ago: Reminder that when you have a chance I'd like a receipt for that check I gave you yesterday

Response: The check has not been deposited yet. For any further questions or concerns please contact Gabriel at [redacted].Text message, from me, to a redacted number:

Hi Gabe. This is Wynn. Kira has told me to contact you regarding getting a receipt for the check I gave you yesterday.
I'm still waiting for that.
Kira has told me the check has not yet been deposited. That's good to know, but it should not preclude providing a receipt. I have already handed over the check to you, after all. (In a sense, I do acknowledge that Kira's statement that the check has not yet been deposited does imply acknowledgement that it was provided to you-but I would like something more tangible and less ambiguous as soon as possible.)Text messages.

Them: Yes I understand when I've cashed the check I will provide the receipt

Me: Just to be clear, you're saying you're unwilling to provide a receipt saying you received the check from me? Because that's what a receipt is-it's a document acknowledging receipt of something from someone else.

Them: I am more than willing to provide the receipt, I
misunderstood your meaning of "receipt" I thought you meant a bank receipt verifying that it was cashed, I will write a receipt for the payment of 1000 dollars you have made.

This shit irritates me. OP’s own linked source states that it’s a myth that the rings were made from a collapsed bridge. I’m willing to believe that OP isn’t deliberately spreading misinformation. Probably genuinely believed it and didn’t read their source. But that’s still a problem.
A screenshot from the Wikipedia article linked in the quoted post. Highlighted are the words:

“myth persists that the initial batch of Iron Rings was made from the beams of the first Quebec Bridge, a bridge that collapsed during construction in 1907 due to poor planning and design by the overseeing engineers. However, the initial batch of Iron Rings were actually produced by World War I veterans at Christie Street Military Hospital in Toronto.”

Logged into MyChart using a link I had, not one they provided by text or by email. It turned out to actually be legit. So I told them where they could shove it (in slightly more professional terms).
To whom it may concern,

I just got a text and an email suggesting that I own $818 as a "prepay" for my appointment on March 12.

First of all, I never see a doctor for more than 5-10 minutes at these appointments. Even without insurance, $818 for 5 minutes of a doctor's time is ridiculous.

Secondly, my last appt. was on September 11, and my sliding scale was literally approved THAT DAY (despite my application being submitted over a month earlier, because your billing dept. screwed up; it took me literally hours or my time and numerous phone calls and emails to get corrected). I was told the sliding scale would be approved for six months, and it's not lost on me that you scheduled my next appt. for literally THE VERY DAY after the sliding scale expires. Absolutely scummy behavior on your part.I have actually now started my job with the State and expect to have health insurance no later than November 1 - but given the sheer number of bad experiences I've had with your practice in less than two months, and given the seeming-incompetence (at the most charitable) of your billing and scheduling teams, I no longer feel comfortable being seen at your office. Once is an error, twice is a warning, more than that is a pattern.

I will probably need to pick up one more prescription from your pharmacy before March, but other than that I'm done. The way I've been treated by your office is terrible, and has actively added to my stress (which, as a medical office, you should know is detrimental to a patient's health - though it seems you don't care enough about this to actually bother to do anything correctly).

Please cancel my appt. on March 12.

Regards,
Philip (Wynn) Burbidge, she/they/he.
