Should be noted that this was not Discord itself that was hacked, but a third-party security bot. This also has nothing to do with age verification. Passwords have also not been leaked, but you should probably go ahead and change that anyway just to be on the safe side.

Steam looks like it is conducting age assurance checks on all gifts for any child in the UK, no matter the age rating on the gift itself. Tried to gift my son copies of Portal 1 & 2 (PEGI rating of 7 & 12) and son met with "Mature sexual content is not allowed in your country for users under 18".

Steam gift of Portal 1 & 2, with a message showing "Mature sexual content is not allowed in your country for users under 18. To accept this gift, you must first add a valid credit card to your account."

Steam Support response to my support ticket shown in the quote. It reads -
"I understand where you're coming from.

For now, verification based on credit card ownership is the only path Steam currently offers for age verification under the OSA. We are continuing to gather data on potential pain points for users and will take your feedback back to the team. We are sorry for the inconvenience this requirement is causing for you and the rest of our UK users.

Ok just found out that age verification for Steam is not a one and done thing for some fucking reason. You can’t just buy a game with a credit card and be done with it. You have to CONSTANTLY have an active credit card registered to your account. And if it expires your verification goes with it.

A Steam Support ticket - The content of the initial message is too long to fit into alt text normally, but the gist is that it expresses grief over the radio silence in the year since we were told anything as a community regarding this, and that since then, this system has been rolled out across Australia, causing the same grief there - Where credit-card only is not accessible to the vast majority of legal adults, that credit cards are not ubiquitous in these regions, and are not obtainable by some users at all by virtue of being ineligible. It also states that as this gets rolled out across more regions with similar situations regarding credit cards, before ending with a plea for Valve to provide any information when users can expect to see changes or additional methods of age verification.
