...good enough - welcome back, wayne wheeler 🥴

the classic tobey maguire spiderman glasses meme where he puts glasses on to see something for what it really is

before glasses: baroness beeban kidron, an unelected politician in the house of lords actively engineering the heightened suffering of the british public via the out-of-touch online """safety""" act and now various porn bans

after glasses: wayne wheeler, the leading advocate of the prohibition movement in 1800s america which criminalised alcohol for nonsensical reasons

slightly altered stock response. if you "see where I'm coming from," then how about... you know, saying anything about when we might see changes/additions to the age verification so that we can actually use it at all? like everyone in the UK & AUS have been asking???

Steam Support response to my support ticket shown in the quote. It reads -
"I understand where you're coming from.

For now, verification based on credit card ownership is the only path Steam currently offers for age verification under the OSA. We are continuing to gather data on potential pain points for users and will take your feedback back to the team. We are sorry for the inconvenience this requirement is causing for you and the rest of our UK users.

More information on this process can be found in our FAQ:" Followed by a link to their existing resource on age assurance compliance (which does not mention anything about when we can expect to see changes or additions like the ticket asked).

to """celebrate""" over a year of Valve not telling us anything about when we can expect changes to us not being able to use their damn storefront for its literal primary purpose of buying games, as well as rolling this out to AU, we're going for round 2!

A Steam Support ticket - The content of the initial message is too long to fit into alt text normally, but the gist is that it expresses grief over the radio silence in the year since we were told anything as a community regarding this, and that since then, this system has been rolled out across Australia, causing the same grief there - Where credit-card only is not accessible to the vast majority of legal adults, that credit cards are not ubiquitous in these regions, and are not obtainable by some users at all by virtue of being ineligible. It also states that as this gets rolled out across more regions with similar situations regarding credit cards, before ending with a plea for Valve to provide any information when users can expect to see changes or additional methods of age verification.

#Twitch urgent twitch have silently rolled out a genai training setting that is on by default. to disable, go to settings -> security & privacy, then the toggle is near the bottom of the page 🤔 very interesting positioning for the setting, almost as if amazon know we don't want this 🤨i wonder

so fun fact about twitch mod tools the limit on the message count is 999. if you have a thousand or more, it shows as 999+ ...there is absolutely room for a fourth or even fifth digit. twitch has been around for over 20 years. feels like an oversight imo

the mod view card for "nopetoofast" in a twitch channel.
they have "999+" messages and 1 mod comment, which says "i recommend permabanning this user"

the mod comment is also from nopetoofast

okay i ended up opening a new ticket on this so i guess they're aware whether or not they'll do anything is up to chance

When starting Discord, it will create a new shortcut in the Start Menu if there isn't one, even if not desired by the user.

while attempting to research why this is happening and what i can do about it, i stumbled across this incredibly poorly-aged gem from 7 years ago 😭😭😭😭😭

A Discord support ticket:

Is there a way to stop discord desktop app from creating a shortcut every time it updates (Answered)

Hello, every time the discord desktop app updates, a shortcut to it is created in the desktop.

Is there a an option to disable this malware behavior?

Official comment
That's not something our app does.

If you need support help, please contact our support team via https://dis.gd/contact or tweet us @discordapp. This website is specifically for new feature suggestions to add to Discord. As such, I'm closing out this ticket as invalid.

it's gonna be so funny when the reveal drops, because what are people like this gonna do are they gonna block toby and add him to their little blocklists because the game didn't go how they thought it would? 😭

deltarune fans imma be real with you rq you're walking directly into toby's trap

"why would a fly land on something like this" response a venus flytrap
"rats should be ashamed for falling in this trap" response a mousetrap
"bears!! this is ridiculous!" response to a bear trap
casually falls for the obvious "dess is the roaring knight" trap
