Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 26/09/2026Making a few notes. The @onebrightbook.bsky.social crew is back together tomorrow morning to discuss Fierce Attachments by Vivian Gornick. 3120
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 20/09/2026There are quite a few things I need to be reading today. And only one thing I’ll actually be reading. 4310
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 13/09/2026The start of school is such a crazy, stressful time. Relaxing with a mystery. In my pajamas. Feels like such a gift. I will get to all the other tasks later. Haven’t even had time to get to my #spinsterseptember books yet. 0240
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 07/09/2026I think you should ask an expert like @joiedevivre9.bsky.social. I was only passing through for a few days. Although I really enjoyed Chihuly Garden and Glass. 130
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 07/09/2026On my way home. But I made one last stop. 4360
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Seattle skyline truly spectacular tonight. 0605
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 06/09/2026Ordering now from Blackwell’s because I can’t wait for the US edition. Which I will probably also buy. Even though I still think she’s a little personally forbidding, even scary. Scary genius. 2210
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 30/08/2026Starting We Were Forbidden by Jacqueline Harpman, translated from the French by Ros Schwartz from @transitbooks.bsky.social. Second reading. I’ve been wondering about a few things… 090
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 28/08/2026For every teacher out there, overwhelmed or exhausted by the start of school, lots of people see you and appreciate all that you do. Happy Weekend Eve! 0132
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 28/08/2026My daughter is in New York and texted me to say that the Leonora Carrington tarot deck that we both just acquired from Fulgur Press is on display at the Morgan. It is a beautiful thing. www.fulgur.co.uk/books/tarot-... 2354
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 23/08/2026Reading That Summer’s End by Lee Seong-bok, translated from the Korean by Anton Hur. “One hundred and six poems of self-reflection and exquisite beauty—an intoxicating blend of Seon Buddhism and French Symbolism from one of South Korea’s most celebrated and influential poets.” 0181
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 18/08/2026Join us for a bonus episode of @onebrightbook.bsky.social as we chat with Allison from @sandtclassics.bsky.social about their stunning imprint. Rebecca and I both pitched an idea. What would you like to see next in the lineup? onebrightbook.com/2026/08/17/b... 0133
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 16/08/2026My copy of Fierce Attachments by Vivian Gornick is nowhere to be found. So I have to get another one. And I’m not in love with any of my choices. Which one of these would you go for? 1082
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Yesterday’s snickerdoodles disappeared quickly. So on a whim, I just made some oatmeal chocolate chip cookies. Not sure why I’m doing this. 1170
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 15/08/2026Picked this up at the library today because I remembered when @ds228.bsky.social talked about looking forward to it. Anyone read it? 690
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 15/08/2026I’m going to go ahead and read this now. Just for giggles. I’ve heard all your warnings. But I can’t bring myself to believe them. 2160
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 15/08/2026I had a particularly satisfying day, and now I’ve made snickerdoodles and the whole house smells like cinnamon. Sigh. 1200
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 12/08/2026Just saw that The Woman Warrior is 50 years old today. Felt nostalgic. Dug out my copy. Looked inside the front cover. Purchased in 1985 for ENG 207 Contemporary Lit. $6.95. My first semester in college. The new one to the right is attractive too. 5252

Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 07/08/2026What Christie wrote about Absent in the Spring in her autobiography: 090
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 07/08/2026Just finished the last of the novels Christie wrote under the pen name of Mary Westmacott. Her chances to dig into the psychological makeup of characters rather than always working for the plot as she believed she did for her mysteries. Absent in the Spring was my clear favorite. 2171
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Sorting out the mysteries this afternoon. Didn’t realize I had this much Lorac/Carnac love about the shelves. ❤️ 1230
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 06/08/2026Book dusting. This has been annoying me for six years. Just put the fix on my current book shopping list. 4262
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 03/08/2026Starting My Dreadful Body by Egana Djabbarova, translated from the Russian by Lisa C. Hayden. 0131
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 02/08/2026Shakespeare in the ruins at Barboursville Winery tonight. Much Ado About Nothing. Wine. Everything summer should be. 1280
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 01/08/2026Wherever I go, there is at least one of these places. Quite a few around here actually. 2180
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 01/08/2026From the library. I’ve read Mitford material in various forms but not a graphic novel. Giving this a try. 3150
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 31/07/2026My family used to joke about me lugging this around, and my grandparents saved the day with a set of encyclopedias. I still have this book in the image by the way. 010
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 29/07/2026Holding a 1961 edition of a book in my hands, looking at this list, and thinking of the books that slip quietly away. 6401
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 28/07/2026Love that my grandparents inscribed every book they ever gave one another. Such a love affair. 0180
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 28/07/2026A second wave of blooms are emerging in the yard, I have not slept less than eight hours in over a month, staying up into the wee hours regularly, watched The Sheep Detectives three times, finishing whole books in a day, hanging with friends. This is the good life. 0200
Frances Evangelista @nonsuchbook.bsky.social · 26/07/2026I’m going to reread this now. And watch the 1979 movie again. And set a reminder for the Netflix 6 part adaptation coming August 13. Yes, I am a fan. Exciting times. 7585
