Hate to admit this as a Chicagoan, but I like Preminger’s MAN WITH THE GOLDEN ARM, which screened yesterday at #NoirCity, more than Nelson Algren’s exhausting source novel. The cast is great—Sinatra, in particular—and Elmer Bernstein’s score is obviously a thing of brilliance.
