Great. I'm leaving on that carrier in a few hours. One negative about where I live now is that the only Alaska flights are back to Seattle. Everything here, heading east, is AA, United, and SWA. So I'm stuck with these bozos

Since a number of folks have asked, no I won't be in Vegas this year. I'm heading to Mexico to scatter my brother's ashes. Not sure heading straight back and going to Vegas is the right move here. I'll catch y'all at something else this year.

I'm former SAR. I gave a presentation once about what goes into firing up a mission and the timetable it happens on. A lot of folks were surprised to see that from the time we *know* something bad happened it could be 4-6 hours before search teams are on the ground actively looking for you.

Was just coming here to say this. I just couldn't remember if it was 30 or 60 days. I seem to remember Clinton did something back in the 90s that riled everyone up. Can't remember if it was strikes in the Balkans or what, but everyone said "You can't do that!" only to find that yes, he could.

Good news. I think I'm sorted out. The funeral director speaks fluent English and has offered to assist. One of my brother's friends from AA is a tour guide and he's going to help get us around and translate. Now I just have to do it.

It's been fun. I ripped out 4 decades of Romex and non-functional light fixtures. SkyDog and I then started putting runs together in conduit. Lighting is done. We're doing outlets now. Up next is security lighting, a TV, and an 8' ceiling fan (when it arrives). Need to get my P2P inet link done too

I'm bummed I didn't see a #makeshitmonday post from @elcannibal.bsky.social. I've not been around social media much. Job hunting has become a whole new 'thing' with this market. That said, SkyDog and I finally got started converting my barn to a shop. The last week's been intense.

I have a Canon ImageClass MFC that's great. It has DRM but it's off by default and you have to manually go into the web interface to turn it on. This thing has worked great for years. I like being able to scan directly to the NAS with it.

I'm right there with you. My 10 year old spinal injury got all angry with me a few days ago and I've been dealing with sciatic pain in my right leg. I'm done with it. That said, I didn't let it stop me from doing yoga.

I got caught up in a surprise layoff back at the end of Q3. Frustrating as I'd busted my hump most of last year and everything was on track for Q4 delivery. So I took the last few months off to relax and work on personal projects. Vacation is over, though, so once more into the breach.

I had one many years ago who had this 'feather on a stick' toy. If you waved it around in front of him, he had no interest. However he'd pick it up by the feathers and run around the house with it while making a ton of noise (usually at 3am). He liked bringing it to us in bed. I miss him.

I have a cat that plays fetch too. Biscuit will bring me her toy fish. She drops it at my feet, I throw it, and she brings it back. Not sure if she finds this enjoyable or if she's just confused that I keep throwing her gift to me back down the hallway.
