We must move the starting location!

October 3rd being an Advance Voting day at City Hall and under the Vancouver Charter, protests cannot be conducted outside a voting location as a person cannot be within 100m and attempt to influence how electors may vote.

City Hall has stated that any protestors wanting to cast their vote at the polling station that day can do so as is their right; however, not permitted to bring in any items (signs, etc.) that could influence voting by other constituents.

There's a grassroots Telus boycott, and a few folks asked why we're not spearheading it. Boycotts can definitely help the resistance effort! Our capacity is just very limited; we're focused on event organizing, and fighting for a council that will block DCs entirely. #NoAI #Vancouver #VanPoli
Poster text: Tell Off Telus

We've been asked where we stand on
boycotting Telus. Here's our stance:

Boycott the hell out of them.

Telus is a collaborator with the federal
government and Big Tech's anti-democratic
AI push. Applying pressure to them helps.

As a small volunteer group with limited
resources, our work is focused on the
municipal election for now. A council that
doesn't want these projects has unique and
powerful tools to fight them.

All means of resistance are important, and
work best when they are all applied
together. Boycott, vote, protest, reshare
resistance posts, and bug your reps!

One of the best ways to show how LLMs function is to see how they fail, often spectacularly. ChatGPT today still fails the well-known "riddle" of "the doctor is the mother" when the genders of the parents are reversed.
Screenshot from ChatGPT interface.

The user asks the question:

There's an accident, a mother and daughter are involved in a car crash. The mother is killed. When the daughter is rushed to the hospital, the doctor treating them says "I cannot treat this patient, she is my daughter". How can this be?

ChatGPT response:

There are multiple valid explanations because the riddle doesn't specify the family relationships in detail.

One straightforward answer is:

- The woman who died in the crash was the daughter's adoptive or stepmother.
- The doctor is the daughter's biological mother, so when she says, "I cannot treat this patient, she is my daughter," she is telling the truth.

Another equally valid possibility is:

- The girl has two mothers. The mother who died in the crash is one parent, and the doctor is her other mother.

This is a variation of a famous riddle that originally used a father/son scenario and was intended to expose the stereotype that doctors are male. In your version, changing "son" to "daughter" means there isn't a single unique solution, so any explanation consistent with the facts works.
