NEW: When a poll came out last week from a new group that had very little history, I asked them a simple question: Would their pollster speak with me? Days later, they said no, and said they were shutting their polling operation down. When I asked if their poll was real, they admitted it wasn't.

Huang could complicate Bass’ reelection bid, luring away left-of-center voters at a time when the mayor faces criticism over the Palisades fire, the budget and several other issues. The larger the pool of candidates, the more work Bass will have to do to avoid an expensive runoff campaign.
