Of course there have never been any proven links between members of the Reform Party and Putin's Russia. Surely it would be a 'lie' to make such a suggestion. Oh.

More evidence of UK economy’s strong first half to the year, despite the very real impact of the Iran war: - ONS have revised up growth (and gdp/capita growth) in Q2 to 0.5% - confirms the UK as the fastest growing economy in the G7 in 2026 (given growth of 0.6% in Q1)

Pleased to hear from Minister @jimmcmahon.co.uk that, in the true spirit of devolution, there will be significant flexibility in how such levies are devised, to ensure their local appropriateness to the local area.

My Q on the Overnight Visitor Levy. I've always maintained that, should @cornwallcouncil.bsky.social choose to raise a levy, businesses in the local visitor economy should have a say in where proceeds are invested, to support the public goods which they & the communities they operate in rely upon.

I'm delighted that, under Andy Burnham's premiership, the conversation on public ownership of the water industry has fundamentally shifted. There are still trade-offs, but there is much work going on to devise a credible plan to take back control of our water. My speech in Westminster Hall today.

Delighted our Social Housing Bill passed its Second Reading this week. At its heart are radical reforms to the Right to Buy to protect precious social rented homes and incentivise the building of more of them. The Bill also gives greater protections to tenants who are victims of domestic abuse.

With greater powers and investment being devolved, we must ensure the capabilities are in place to make a success of it, safeguarding taxpayer funds and facilitating the genuinely great opportunities for investment that exist in all parts of the country, like Cornwall.

They said it couldn't be done. They said a PM from Manchester won't get Cornwall. They'll force you to have a Mayor they said. They'll make you join up with Devon, they said. In politics, if you don't ask, you won't get. Our PM gets Cornwall. (1/3)

We’re also toughening up regulation on bailiffs, to stop them acting aggressively, holding private bailiffs to consistent professional standards and guaranteeing access to an independent complaints process. Falling behind on bills doesn't mean you shouldn’t be treated with fairness and respect.

Be like Finland. More importantly, be like Britain: I don't remember growing up here thinking "we could never get there because this is just how things are". So let us be the Great Britain we know we can be. "A decent provision for the poor is the true test of civilization" - Samuel Johnson

From April 2027, these time restrictions will be removed, meaning one less pressure and better access to jobs, training, and opportunities for disabled people who are able to work.

Noah Law MP @noahlawmp.bsky.social · 18/08/2026
Lack of affordable transport can be a significant barrier to entering the workplace for disabled people. Currently, bus passes don't work on weekdays before 9.30, often when people need them most, making it unnecessarily harder for disabled people to get to work. Labour is changing that.
