Self-deprecating handle (say it a few times fast). Pro-democracy. Focused on SCOTUS and the federal judiciary, but not exclusively so. Relentlessly cynical. Sometime semi-serious collector of inexpensive first editions.

Not laughing. He attacked a public servant, calling him a dirtbag, on the basis of a false accusation. He owes Jack Smith an apology and it's beyond stupid that elected dems aren't making a bigger issue of this.

Good to see the media finally (and appropriately) centering Schmitt's 'dirtbag' comments. The senator was way out of line and owes Jack Smith an apology. Great work @stltoday.com

Chief Justice Roberts' daughter, a 25 yo, apparently confronted a protester asking if the protesters considered how their actions impacted his family. (Apparently how his rulings affect the whole country are a lesser concern.)

As promised, I wrote about what really bothers me about Tuesday's unsigned, unexplained #SCOTUS ruling clearing the way for the resumption of third-country removals with minimal (if any) process. Turns out, it's a lot: www.stevevladeck.com/p/254-four-t...

254. Four Things That (Really) Bother Me About “D.V.D. III”
“Third-country removals” raise a host of difficult procedural and substantive questions. The Supreme Court should have answered those questions *before* greenlighting deportations to torture.

You are not alone.

Right now, staff in the White House, at least one cabinet secretary two cabinet secretaries, multiple senators and congressmen, two former Speakers of the House, at least one two Supreme Court Justices, a dozen Circuit and District Court Judges, six governors that I know of, a bunch of state legislators, Supreme and appellate court Justices and judges in multiple states, some really famous theologians, journalists, and public policy makers, and at least one Academy Award winner are all reading the Show Notes that went out at noon.

Hoping we don't lose sight of the fact that yesterday, Senator Eric Schmitt called Jack Smith a 'dirtbag' on the basis of false information—and that when confronted by that fact, doubled-down on his slander. That's the kind of thing that an honorable man apologizes for.

The texts in question don't even mention basketball. However he obtained those texts, there are more, and it's likely that viewing them would show that Schmitt knew he was wrong about Atlanta all along (or should have).

Questions about today's Schmitt-show that require answers: 1. How did Schmitt obtain texts from Jack Smith's team? Was the process legal or extra-legal? Was it through the grand jury that Aileen Cannon has convened in Florida?¹ 2. What other texts did he obtain that he did *not* show?

I have *yet* to see an article in mainstream media reflect upon the fact that Schmitt called Smith a 'dirtbag' even *after* his Schmitt's lie about the game was evident. This is an important and newsworthy element being buried by the media.
