And for the final fun fact of the campaign, a table read anecdote ft. @blytherenay.com. VA range will never cease to impress me. The campaign closes tomorrow so if you want to support S3 of ANA, now is the time!!! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

When we did the table read for the last episode of Necessary Evil and Blythe busted out her Disney Princess voice, I was so thrown by how good it was that I asked her to tone it down. But then I listened to it and I was like, "No you were right the first time actually, go fully Giselle on this."

We're in the final countdown of crowdfunding for Absolutely No Adventures Season 3. Just 2 more days to help make this next season the best one yet! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

I got in another stealth Beauty and the Beast reference in episode 4 when Sibella says, "Well my morning just freed up and you did just save me from Adelaide's ridiculous machinations so *be my guest*."

The final episode of Necessary Evil was supposed to be called "A Change of Heart" but I couldn't resist the chance to have episodes called "The Lesser Evil" and "The Greater Good" back-to-back.

4 Days Left! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

One of the original concepts for ANA Season 2 was a season where Sig ended up embroiled with villains against his will. I eventually ended up totally spinning off the concept which is how we got Necessary Evil!

031

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 26/10/2025

Sometimes you get so locked into the POV of the character that you're writing that you momentarily forget key facts about your own lore. Whoops. Last week for our campaign! If you want to support our crowdfunding for season three of ANA, here's the link! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

The jokein ep 3 of Necessary Evil where Sibella forgets Hexwell has 3 houses exists because, when I wrote her line, I actually briefly forgot that fact even though Toad House is by far the most prominent house in the series. Whoops. Sorry Bea.

As a writer, sometimes you have to just let yourself indulge in your word nerd tendencies. If you want to support our crowdfunding for season three of ANA, here's the link! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

A friend once told me about the concept of peacebonding weapons at cons for safety reasons and I thought, "Oh man, that's such a cool word. I have to use it in something." I finally got to use it in Necessary Evil episode 3!

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 24/10/2025

More behind the scenes about episode 3 of Necessary Evil today! Also, we're in the last week of our campaign. If you want to support our crowdfunding for season three of ANA, here's the link! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

Episode 3 of Necessary Evil almost had an Oliver cameo. He was supposed to be reading the trivia questions. But the episode was already running long so, alas, it wasn't meant to be.

022

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 23/10/2025

The original concept for episode 2 of Necessary Evil was an evil advisor episode (think Jafar/Wormtongue) but it wasn't working so I pivoted to arch nemeses and fake families! If you want to support our crowdfunding for season three of ANA, here's the link! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

Before it was named, I was mentally referring to episode 2 of Necessary evil as "The SpyXFamily episode". Also, it initially had a completely different premise but I couldn't get it to work. Once I switched angles, it was a snap to write and it actually ended up leading into the next episode a lot better!

033

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 22/10/2025

I spent a *shocking* amount of time on TV Tropes when I was in 8th grade specifcially. Which has paid off more than most of what I learned in 8th grade tbh. If you want to support our crowdfunding for season three of ANA, here's the link! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

When I was in middle school, I spent a lot of time on TV Tropes which led me to the Evil Overlord List which is probably the first step in the chain of causation for Necessary Evil existing.

Alt: For Sibella and Casimir's relationship, I took a lot of isnpiraion from Frank and Sadie from Beyond Belief. That was always my favorite part of that show and I wanted Sibella and Cas to have the similar vibe of always enjoying each others' company and always being on each others' side.

Ahead of tomorrow's new episode, here's a fun fact about our resident Direbeak witch and how she got her name. If you want to support our crowdfunding for season three, here's the link! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

Sibella, being clever and married to a beast, is of course named after Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Other options consideed were Jezebel and Belladonna.

Today's #AudioDramaSunday fun fact is also a Happy fact! And we've hit our initial goal but we're still crowdfunding until the end of the month. If you enjoy the show, help us out with making season 3! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

Happy was originally going to be a straight up demon, but I didn't feel like dealing with the cosmological implications of introducing demons into the world right off the bat so I invented Aberrant Ones instead and leaned into the eldritch angle.

052

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 18/10/2025

We've hit our initial goal! Thanks so much to everyone who's contributed so far! We still have a stretch goal which is the actual amount neeed to fully fund the production (and unlocks the Mazed and Confused special early!) but this is a huge milestone! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

Happy doesn't use contraction which I remember most of the time but, occasionally, a "we're" or "can't" slips through. Shout out to Karsten for always catching that and giving me the line with the contraction taken out!

013

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 17/10/2025

Alright, IGG is done being weird so, bright and early today, here's your fun fact! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

The Body Swap episode exists solely because, during the recording on season 1, my cast said, "his would be so funny, please write this." They were correc, as usual. That was maybe my favorite table read ever. It ws a bear to write though becuse I kept messing up the dialogue tags!

043

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 16/10/2025

Very delayed because IGG has been down for maintenance all day but here's today's fun fact! We've hit 92% so we're truly almost there! Help us get to the finish line! www.indiegogo.com/en/projects/...

I was originally picturing Sterling as being more stoic and serious but Jack (his actor) brought such try-hard loser energy to his audition that I was like, "Actually yeah, that's who this character is now," and it was absolutely the correct choice.

024

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 15/10/2025

We hit 91% overnight! We're into the single digits y'all! Almost there! And today's fun fact is about an NPC originally from the OG version of the Hexwell Student tier one-shot perk who became an actual character in season 2! igg.me/at/anas3

Morrigan (Bea's annoying Direbeak classmate from season 2) is named after a Direbeak NPC from a Hexwell one-shot I wrote for my friends on a trip (which is one of the crowdfunding perks!). When I had to name her i thought, "You already made up the perfect evil name. Just use it again."

And if you like what you hear, support our Crowdfunding campaign so we can make more stuff like this! igg.me/at/anas3

The reference track I gave to our composer when making the Necessary Evil theme music was the theme song from the American Version of the show Ghosts. I really love the quirky but spooky vibe. I found him because he also did the theme for "Good Morning Evildoers", a show that I really love and was listening to right after I wrote the Necessary Evil scripts.

We hit 80% yesterday so we are truly in the homestretch now! We also happen to be in the homestretch wrt putting the finishing touches on the Mazed and Confused special. Want to listen to it early? If you pledge at the Hexwell Chronomancer tier, you can! igg.me/at/anas3

When I was first writing ANA, I made a big list of all the classis fantasy stories/tropes I wanted to ref (eg: Magic School, Wizard of Oz, Sword in the Stone) and The Chronicles of Narnia was on the list because that was one of my biggest gateways to fantasy! But I couldn't work it into season 1 so I made sure to get it into the wedding special.

023

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 12/10/2025

It's #AudioDramaSunday and I'm blown away to announce that we leapfrogged over 75% last night. Less than a quarter to go before we fund--we're almost there y'all! Today's fun fact is about our last special, which should get you hyped about our upcoming special, Mazed and Confused! igg.me/at/anas3

In the wedding special, Ana's name is a double reference. First off, it's the abbreviation for the show which I thought was fun. But mainly, she's named that as a reference to Anastasia, giving a hint to her origins.

065

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 11/10/2025

With 70% locked in, here's a fun fact about ANA's resident knight, Isadora, which also serves as a look into my writing process! We're so close to our next big milestone (75%!) so if you like what we're doing here and have some cash to throw our way, we'd really appreciate it! igg.me/at/anas3

I had a really solid plan for certain beats of Season 1 but I didn't plan for Isadora to have a whole wedding arc until I was writing it and then I was like, "Oh duh. What did you learn in your Shakespere class? Comedies end in weddings!" It was a great way to bring everything full circle and also give Sig a big exciting project to work on. It also meant I got to write the wedding special which is my favorite episode of the series!

045

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 10/10/2025

We are at 65% of our goal and today's fun fact is about my favorite joke in the entirety of ANA. Help us get funded for more very long walks to hyperspecific punchlines! igg.me/at/anas3

I don't think I've ever taken a longer walk to get to a joke than revealing the origin of Sig's name in episode 9 and it's my favorite joke in the entire series. From the concept to the title of the episode, it all came to me in one burst while I was riding the bus to work and then I shaped the entire season to get there. I don't know if I'll ever be that funny ever again.

045

Absolutely No Adventures @noadventurespod.bsky.social · 09/10/2025

More of my IRL baked good adventures for today's fun fact! And now I wish I had some kouign amann! Or at least some bricohe. Man this show makes me hungry, lol. Help us make more episodes to make everyone hungry! Support our crowd fund! igg.me/at/anas3

Even though I lived in NYC for three years, I've never actually had a cronut--let alone an official one from Dominique Ansel's bakery. I have had his kouign amanns though and they're sooooo good.

"Toroids of Dimension and Despair" being cronuts are an inside joke referencing the time my high school BFF and I tried to make cronuts from scratch and they turned out so badly that we just ended up eating icing from the tube. The despair was palpable.

For the 2025 Fiction Podcast Zine Festival

Hey Guys!

Bea here!

So, I used to listen to podcasts all the time when I was walking around my neighborhood or taking the subway to school, but I don’t really have a commute anymore cause, you know. Teleportation magic. I still love podcasts though! And I love introducing them to my friends in Solegard to see what they think! Here are a few they really liked plus my favorites. Hopefully, you’ll like them too!

Sig

Dragon's Rest

I tried to get Sig to listen to a lot of fantasy podcasts but this one was easily his favorite. It’s about a bunch of pub workers who run a tavern in a fantasy world...so yeah it makes sense that this was the one he clicked with. In hindsight, I probably should have started with this one! His favorite character is Shax, the ex-adventurer half-orc who owns the tavern. He said and I quote, “I think we’d have a LOT of interesting stories about customers to swap--though I’m lucky enough that my customers aren’t also drunk! Most of the time.”

Happy

Good Morning Evildoers

This one is set up like the morning announcements at a mysterious, super evil conglomerate. They’re hosted by Winifred, the peppy head of HR who says stuff like, “We’re evil, not rude.” I think Happy likes it because it reminds him on a better run version of The Abyss. He’s not actually interested in elaborate plans to take over the world or destroy it or turn it to madness or anything like that, but he has a LOT of opinions about the right and wrong way to do it. According to him, the top dogs in The Abyss could learn a lot from Global Synergy Amalgamated...so I should probably figure out a way to make sure that they don’t get access to this podcast.
