This is what every analytics report looks like now. More users! More events! But active time on the site keeps going down since bots "read" faster than humans.

A dashboard view of an unknown site
Active Users: 13.8K, up 7.44%
New Users 13.7K, up 7.25%
Avg engagement time 1 second, down -47.7%
Events 49.3K, up 7.07%

This flag appeared at the top of our Free Educational GitHub organization account. "GitHub Copilot billing for CDRH is now usage-based. Set a per user budget to manage costs." We don't have any billing info associated with this account, and have never paid […] [Original post on hcommons.social]

Flag that appeared at the top of my org's github org page that says: Test of the flag is in the post

I was frustrated with the microsoft planner design options, and a colleague pointed out that the design options are based on the board title, so if you change the title until a design comes up that you like, you can choose the design and then change the title […] [Original post on hcommons.social]

a design selector in planner, the board title is "cat" and the first two design choices (after a blank one) are pictures of cats

a design selector in planner, the board title is "bokeh" and the first two design choices are bokeh like images (the last one might be too, it's a bit harder to tell)

Last Wednesday, my team and I were looking at the in/out/wfh settings in Microsoft 365, and there was a view of this app "Places" that showed everyone in office on particular days. Super cool! Today, a week later, I cannot find any evidence it ever existed […] [Original post on hcommons.social]

screenshot of an overlay labeled "working remotely today" that shows who is in office (icons redacted)

A view of "People you work with" in an app named "Places" that shows who is in office each work day. It's a nice clean view and show most people are in wednesday. (icons and names are all redacted)

My coworker gave me some of these silicone glasses hook things and I love them so much. They are especially useful with masks, my glasses keep sliding off when wearing a mask.

Product photo of silicone ear things on a pair of glasses, they slide on the arm to go around behind the ear and hold the glasses on.

I got a clearance halloween skeleton for 85% off but don't really have anything to do with it so I guess it's now my home office buddy

Really digging my new office poster wall. See alt text for details on posters.

Some posters on a wall, using magnets to stick to metal rails held up with command hooks. There are a couple of screen prints (a justice themed one and one that says "velo love"), posters for the Nebraska authors website and the video games and the humanities forum, an ACLU poster, a poster with an Andy goldsworthy sculpture on a prairie on fire for "violence, the arts, and cather", a little print that says "libraries are magical" featuring a character from girls with slingshots by Danielle corsetto, and a welcome to nightvale art print showing 3 pairs of shaking hands but one is a tentacle

Reviewing some fixes for the Whitman Archive and feeling really sorry for the programmer that's having to troubleshoot milestones in TEI (We're editing XSLT that was created years and years ago).

A screenshot of a GitHub diff with code added, the XSLT template match has a test for "preceding::delSpan[@spanTo=$id]" and then adds, via a CDATA section, an end span.

Our National Digital Newspapers Grant may be no more (😢) but my colleague Laura Weakly is still posting fun newspaper related content cdrhdev.unl.edu/log/2025/chronampar…

Old newspaper image featuring a black and white photo of a cat with a decorative border and a line drawing of three cats above that with massive bows on.

Today's frustrating moment: Some images weren't showing up on a page, I checked to make sure the filenames were correct and they were. I finally thought to paste in the filename into a text editor, which showed there is some kind of zero space, invisible […] [Original post on hcommons.social]

Airtable is redoing their community help pages, and instead of leaving the old pages up while it's in progress, they took EVERYTHING down. So thousands of google links now lead to this.

Something new is coming!

We're putting the finishing touches on the 4 new Airtable Community,

designed to make it easier than ever to connect, learn, and collaborate with each other.

While we're getting things ready, you can continue learning with Airtable Academy or find answers in the Help Center.

Stay tuned—our new community experience launches VERY soon! X Powered by

Last year at the annual Whitman Archive lunch I won the coveted Whitman trophy for the first time and it has sat on my desk all year. Today it (probably) goes to a new home. This was full of water when they first made it. #whitman

A snow globe only half full of water with a Whitman photo inside. The photo is partially obscured, but it is of Whitman and peter Doyle and their hats have been photoshopped into a Santa and elf hat

Happy Halloween! Here I am in my new favorite sweatshirt

Photo of me standing awkwardly as usual in front of a wall painted green. My sweatshirt is half dark gray, half white, with two skeletons appearing to be dancing and making a heart with their hands.
