Well, hummus friends. First try definitely needs some work. @anyaspethmann.bsky.social said to ‘cook the bejesus’ out of em. I did! They dissolved mostly into mush. But!! The few that were left I followed everyone’s advice and have made about 1/3 cup of amazing hummus!

I have never made from-scratch hummus with dried chickpeas before. Only tinned. So: advice please! My chickpeas are soaking in water with bicarbonate of soda overnight. How do I make em into the silkiest, most delicious hummus ever, please?

Yup. I was right. Sounds like they’re all doing what we did. Very natural reaction to seeing flames licking the borders of your home when you’re under an evacuation order: turn hoses on. But… that drains necessary fire-fighting resources.

When my village was on evacuation alert and fire was raging all around, we all left garden sprinklers etc on & had hoses on the roofs. Fire service turned em all off as we were draining the lake. Bet anything that’s what’s happened. It’s such a terrible situation. Been there. Heart goes out to em.

Like many of my fellow writer/creative types, I am absolutely fucking horrible at accounts. It doesn’t help having crushing dyscalculia, so just entering numbers accurately on a spreadsheet is a major challenge. Have been doing NUMBERS all day. It’s almost 5pm and I’m done. I hate this part :(

Ever since I got smoked olive oil I have been obsessing over how great it would be drizzled on lasagne. Could not decide on meat or spinach & ricotta so I did a layer of each. It’s even better than I hoped…

Well. Today has been absolutely dreadful so far. So here’s a loaded gooey, grilled extra mature cheddar & chipotle mayo on whole grain sourdough, SLATHERED in butter to make me feel (temporarily) better.
