an XKCD comic showing a precariously assembled tower of blocks. much is labelled "all modern digital infrastructure." a thin leg down at the bottom is labelled "A project some random person in Nebraska has been thanklessly maintaining since 2003."

Gloria Steinem, Dolly Parton.... Truly inspirational women who personified the correct meaning of the word "strength". Their passing is a huge loss to the society we find ourselves in today.

. @ourfakehistory.bsky.social The path me and my dog inadvertently traced this morning while listening to the back episode of "What went down on Easter Island". It sure looks like a slightly-tilted Moai head on Rapa Nui. Totally unplanned, but as a nerd, I'm happy it turned out that way.

Now that #Canada🍁 is no longer beholden to the USA, can we refrain from using the term "gasoline" and correctly start calling it "petrol" like the rest of the English speaking, metric loving world? #ElbowsUp

I'm happy that Count Binface has taken the stigma out of seeing otherworldly characters in official spaces, outside of a Halloween party. They seem to be more in touch with the on-ground reality than earthly humans.

I think one of the sad things about the current data center story cycle is the electric companies have effectively used "data center demand" to obscure that our main grid/supply/safety problems come from them letting the grid decay over the last two decades in unconscionable ways.

Still somewhat limited. Majority of British "rocks" were quarried in Asia and China. And Latin America should also have a huge, gaping chasm from where a lot of the "rocks" were quarried that today adorn other European countries like Spain and Portugal. #geopolitics #colonialism

I hope the fact that Russell is extremely unlikely to win the WDC in 2026 will actually mentally release him from the pressure and the anxiety over the engine issues and diabolically bad racing luck, so that he can enjoy himself on track, win some races and get podiums, his Merc team willing. #F1

Feeling happy for Antonelli. He has backed up his luck with real effort & skill behind the wheel, while the maturity index keeps rising every race. Would've loved to see him challenged on track but others' misfortune is not his fault. Deserved champion this year when he gets there. #F1 #BelgianGP

Biggest legacy of #DDay is that if countries and groups of people work together as "good faith" allies, they can overcome the biggest obstacles (cliffs and barbed wire) against incredible odds (guns and shore batteries). Good prep (painstakingly gaining air superiority) also helps, of course. #WWII
