They were Israeli military. They were heavily armed. How can they have been overwhelmed? Couldn't they just call in a missile strike? Or run over the #Zionist terrorists in a tank? And if the terrorists were 'violent' no question. Bomb them to dust. Palestinian kids are shot for holding a stone.

Hi #History and #historians on Bluesky - and #theological #bluesky I'm working on a project involving the location of #stainedglass windows. My life would be easier if I could acquire lists of all current and former non-conformist and Roman Catholic places of worship in the British Isles.

The drones had an Appointment in Samara - but who with?
The speaker is Death
There was a merchant in Bagdad who sent his servant to market to buy provisions
and in a little while the servant came back, white and trembling, and said, Master,
just now when I was in the marketplace I was jostled by a woman in the crowd
and when I turned I saw it was Death that had jostled me. She looked at me and
made a threatening gesture; now, lend me your horse, and I will ride away from
this city and avoid my fate. I will go to Samarra and there Death will not find me.
The merchant lent him his horse, and the servant mounted it, and he dug his
spurs in its flanks and as fast as the horse could gallop he went. Then the
merchant went down to the marketplace and he saw me standing in the crowd
and he came to me and said, Why did you make a threating gesture to my servant
when you saw him this morning? That was not a threatening gesture, I said, it
was only a start of surprise. I was astonished to see him in Bagdad, for I had an
appointment with him tonight in Samarra.

To be fair, it's been a long, tough summer. The dedicated officers of Hampshire Police must be exhausted. They deserve a bit of a break. But....perhaps not a good idea to let the entire force go on holiday for three weeks at the same time. Otherwise they'd have nicked the lot of 'em. Shirley?

It's an incredible, and unbelievable, journey. This puts Saul on the Road to Damascus in the shade. Yesterday she wanted to deport all immigrants. Today she supports a Nation of Sanctuary. I don't believe it. If it's genuine, she's too erratic to be a Plaid AS. 10 own goals for Plaid.

There's nothing new under the sun. Free movement in the EU? Schengen? from the Globe 20 April 1872 Yes, 1872!
PASSPORTS from this day, it is understood, will
not be demanded from British subjects landing at
the Channel ports, or entering France at the Anglo-
Belge-French frontiers. But J. M. Cook writes to
call the attention of Earl Granville and M. Thiers to
the fact that this order of service is not an entire
abolition of passports, and to urge upon the French
Government, now that they have accepted the prin-
ciple of abolition, to at once perfect their order by
coupling with it a supplementary order including the
abolition (so far as British subjects are concerned)
at the Swiss-Italian-German frontiers.

GALLANT RESCUE BY A YOUNG LADY.—A young lady, named Miss Fanny Churchward, very gallantly rescued from drowning Miss Mary Pritchard, of Abergavenny, who on Monday last was bathing on the Plymouth Hoe. Miss Pritchard was fast being carried out to sea by the tide, when Miss Churchward plunged into the water, without waiting to divest herself of any clothing, and brought her safe on shore. This is the third life this young woman has saved during the present summer.

Dear all, Please can you help our friend Mo in Gaza? This is NOT a scam. Despite the unimaginable (to us in our safe & comfortable homes) difficulties of everyday life that he faces, he & his family still manage to care for 17 homeless cats. Can you help buy their food? paypal.me/animalrescue...
🚨 ON THE VERGE OF THE ABYSS: Day after day under this suffocating siege, and our campaign remains frozen at 44%. The numbers are completely stuck, and honesty compels me to speak: due to the drastic shrinking of financial support, we are about to enter a catastrophic dead-end. 💔

While the bombs continue to rain down and daily lawlessness unleashes brutal murders across North Gaza, the walls are closing in on us from the inside. Extreme inflation has turned a single meal into a luxury, and with support hitting rock bottom, I am rapidly running out of options to keep our sanctuary alive. My son Ayman and I are fighting with everything we have, but the reality is clear—without your solidarity, our resilience is being starved out. Our 17 innocent cats have no one else to stand between them and annihilation. 🐾

We are holding a breaking front line of mercy, but we cannot sustain it alone. To rescue these helpless survivors from this immediate crisis and secure their 6-month strategic reserve, we desperately need to break this freeze through our Campaign: chuffed.org/project/184107… —while their immediate daily critical food supplies depend entirely on your direct support via PayPal: paypal.me/animalrescue703

We are staring into the abyss, and time is running out. Please be our voice today before the silence wins. Retweet, share, or donate—your empathy is our only shield. 🙏⏳

Surely there are better ways of doing this than volunteers scrabbling on their hands and knees? Something like the garden 'leaf vacuum cleaners' fitted with a suitable sized mesh/bag so that any sand drops through back onto the beach, and the plastic stays inside? Or even a wheeled version

Stories drop off the news, but the facts continue. The #Zionist war-criminals are still crushing Gaza, killing people, destroying property, seizing land. We don't hear about it because the journalists are dead. PLEASE can you help Mo to feed the cats he cares for? paypal.me/animalrescue703 Pls share
There were also other raids on Deir al-Balah, Nuseirat, Al-Mawasi, Al-Bureij, Al-Maghazi, and everywhere else in the Gaza Strip...
The army also advanced the "yellow line" east of Deir al-Balah and in the Zaytoun neighborhood to the north, occupying additional territory..
This is what I’ve been saying for some time: the war isn’t over. However, the pace of shelling has intensified over the past week, and things are gradually reverting to how they were during the war...

The first thing I do when morning breaks is check on the cats... those poor creatures—I do not know what they have done to deserve such terror. Whenever a raid occurs, I see them running at full speed... I do not know how long their suffering will last.😢
I remain adamant: if my area were to be invaded, I would never leave. I would rather die beside them than live in a tent..
I simply want your support to bolster our resilience by stocking up on food for them.
The campaign isn't going well, friends... We’ve only reached 20% of the campaign goal..
Your support is what helps us hold firm and enables me to face the dark days ahead.
chuffed.org/project/184107…
Or , you can support me directly via the PayPal link to help cover their food and routine veterinary care costs at this time.
paypal.me/animalrescue703
Your support rewrote our destiny from despair to survival; thank you for ..
We are profoundly grateful for the hearts that refused to let us perish in the dark.

Funny you should say that... Back in 1900 Capt Pryse Pryse Pryse (no, honestly) went hunting. The fox went to earth (dived into a burrow). Pryse³ was miffed, stuck his arm down the hole, and dragged the fox out by its tail. It bit him. He died in agony some days later from rabies. Karma?
Newspaper cutting: South Wales Daily News, 13 January 1900
Text: LATE CAPT. PRYSE PRYSE. THE FUNERAL. The burial of Captain Pryse, eldest son of Sit Pryse Pryse, Bart., of Plas Gogerddan, who died on Tuesday from blood poisoning following the effects of a bite from a fox, took place yester- day afternoon at th Church of St. John, Penrhyncoch. The funeral was attended by hundreds of persons from all parts of North Cardiganshire. The service was entirely in Welsh, and was con- ducted by the Rev. George Blackwell, curate-in- cliarge. By the expressed wish of the family the ceremony throughout was marked by unusual simplicity, though some two score wreaths, received from all classes, were an eloquent testimony to the love and esteem in which the family, and especially the deceased, was held by the people.

#familyhistory time again. I've just had a reply from the RAF Museum about an enquiry I made about my grandfather's service at the Central Flying School in WW1. They had a note that he had influenza in November 1918. That was the Spanish flu which killed 250,000 people. I dodged a bullet there...

There's nothing really new. Compare with this photo of a V1 "Doodlebug" dropping down on London around 1944. A lot less sophisticated (they flew in a straight line until they ran out of fuel), but the feelings of people seeing one going overhead must have been the same.
