I had a pivotal morning. This is the 1st morning in 2 weeks that I didn’t go outside & smoke 1st thing. I attribute this to seeing my puzzle better. The issue is that both of my assaulters didn’t even realize and still don’t accept that they assaulted me. This helps me know how to move forward.

My brain tries to make sense of everything and won't stop until it does. Like it's assembling an 1 billion piece puzzle and must get it right. There are multiple puzzles happening. This sometimes will lead to me being harder on me because making sense of other people can be too daunting of a task.

I had the worst encounter with my assailant recently. He continues to show up in a space I frequent, even after I sent him a 4 page letter (email) expressing how he violated me. I asked him to stop showing up in the space 3 weeks ago. He's shown up in the space twice since.

And I hope it’s understood that SA can happen to any gender. We, as humans, need to collectively agree: no one’s hormones, desires, power, or sense of entitlement should ever be an excuse or used to negotiate, coerce, or take another person’s body. Boundaries and consent are not optional. Ever.

I think briefly, if not forever there's some self blaming. And if you share your experience with someone and they ask the same victim blaming questions- the self blaming that you're trying to heal from is wounded again. Healing is already so difficult!

And it starts with educating today’s boys. Whatever today that is. The “boys will be boys” mentality HAS to stop. The victim shaming HAS to stop. The assumption that boys can’t control hormones HAS to stop. The wrist-slapping HAS to stop. I’ve worked with the boys in my life. I hope I’m not alone.

I knew my assailant. We dated for a few months and I decided that he was better suited as just a friend because of his lack of engagement and emotional availability. I was still comfortable with him. I trusted him. I didn’t think he would harm me. And yet, he did.
