Literally about to cry at work for the first time in years because of the new figma prototyping. Not in a good way. I have not been this frustrated at my work tools since fucking adobe illustrator

I find chatgpt extremely useful for copy writing - but in a few very specific ways only. Basically, if I'm already sure what I want to say, and I've drafted a version of it, but it's not feeling super clear - I'll ask chatgpt to rewrite it 10 times

Thousand Islands Dressing is the perfect example of consensus driven design. After each island of the thousand issued their veto, the remaining ingredients were ketchup and mayonnaise.

absolutely fascinated by this! in the recent hiring we have been doing, I was totally shocked to hear at least 3 of the first set of candidates were some kind of deep fake / totally fake candidate / phishing scam. www.pindrop.com/article/targ...

Does anyone else feel like the trend over the last few years is towards less and less deep thought? Specifically driven by ai and short form social media

My latest piece in @wired.com is about the dangers of driver distraction. Motorists in most new cars are almost forced to use touchscreens when in motion. This is finally coming to an end. www.wired.com/story/why-ca...

This story explains a LOT of things: ChatGPT appears to be rooting on sociopathic mental illness by validating every delusion of grandeur. It also explains, in part, the hype cycle around AI: rich people, addicted to praise, invented a Compliment Machine. www.garbageday.email/p/this-is-wh...

This is an interesting thread. It's not the original poster's point, but it makes me think about exam questions in general.

I think it could be #ai that finally kills off the supremacy social media has had over the last decade. With the amount of bots, AI slop and unreliable content, I'm already seeing a lot of people shifting to more local / personal / longform channels: Substack, groups on messaging apps, audiobooks

I feel like the rise of AI generated content is going to push human language in really interesting directions. How do you prove you're human? By using some kind of "in-group" language (grammar, words, style) that sounds obviously non-AI?

Adverse impacts of revealing the presence of “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” technology in product and service descriptions on purchase intentions: the mediating role of emotional trust and the moderating role of perceived risk
While the presence of the term “Artificial Intelligence (AI)” in a product description may be viewed as a sign of that product having advanced capabilities and features, it may also trigger fear an...

we need more formal gatekeeping in tech, in the same way structural engineers or lawyers or doctors need to pass serious exams to be certified

This can happen with any AI agent… or human developer! A BIG difference w AI agents: they will write more code, faster than before, and ship a LOT more code to prod! So ship more bugs as well. Software engineers (not AI engineers) will build o11y solutions to solve for this!

How are you all using AI design tools like v0, Lovable, etc? As a designer I've found v0 kind of useful in limited situations, but not particularly better than doing basic competitor/UI research. Essentially it's a quick way to figure out what the obvious UI pattern is that I should be using.

I have a grand unifying theory of Elon Musk. I think it's a pretty common experience for a certain kind of smart person to enter a new organisation, look around them, see a bunch of broken things, and think, "well, the obvious solution would be ..."
