At the end of the day, your athletic achievements are based on your athletic achievements, not anyone else's, so train hard, commit to your sports, and don't complain when someone out trains and out commits you. Plus, there's (almost) always going to be someone better than you, so keep pushing.

As the father of two girls who play sports, I would never have an issue with them playing a young person who is presenting as female at this age, and wouldn't have an issue with them competing against someone who has begun the transition process at a later age.

It's all about "protecting women" who are clearly helpless (even when they're a professional athlete) but really it's about punishing those assigned male at birth for daring to give up their access to power and privilege by transitioning to a "lesser" class.

I mean even with the embarrassment of last night, there's no way the LA rivalry is anywhere close to Seattle v Portland, it's 50+ years old and permeates through to the women's teams and even usl teams. The two cities HATE each other and soccer makes the most sense for that hatred to manifest.

I think a big part is reclaiming our identity as a nation built by immigrants and fostering those communities and investing resources into embracing those unique cultures (not forcing assimilation) which includes celebrating soccer and making dual-nats proud to play for the us.

We'll never devote the level of finances and overall national passion to soccer. It can't even beat baseball yet (no knock on baseball, I'm American after all). So how do you identify those athletes early on and give them avenues to success that are accessible financially and logistically?

Youth soccer development is definitely one place to start. You are definitely priced out in major metropolitan club systems, but my local small town select club with volunteer coaches goes toe to toe with those clubs and our kids are fully in for the year at less than $750 and scholarships abound.

We're not as woefully stuck in neutral as Italy but the barrier to breaking through and being a true top 8 team in the world (not just a ranked top 8 team) to even have a shot at winning it all is still as massively in the way, and while every fan and analyst has an answer, is there a true solution?

Building on that, we're largely a region split between very small town rural and Vancouver metro. Maybe a handful of kids from Vancouver could get athletic scholarships but even fewer from the rural areas. It is NOT the primary avenue to college for anybody in our region.

I'm ashamed she is my representative. She does not stand up to protect the vulnerable. She does not represent the best interests of her constituents and definitely does not speak for residents of the state of Washington.
