Which of these do you all prefer? I know the tropes and arrows marketing style is controversial, but it's really effective. #writersky #feedback #booksky #magicacademy #whychoose

A dark, ornate book cover titled Validus Vale Academy: Book One by Nicky Shivers rests on a purple cloth with a striped tie nearby. The cover features a glowing golden and violet illustration of a castle. Text with colorful arrows points to the book listing its tropes: "Slow burn," "Magic academy," "Telepathic FMC," "Mute MMC," "Missing mates," "Elite enemy," and "Touch her and die." At the bottom of the cover: "A Paranormal Academy Reverse Harem Romance."

On the left, a dark-haired young woman stares intensely at the viewer against a stormy, teal-lit background with a large gothic school building behind her. The text reads: "Arriving at Validus Vale Academy. Dad's last words ringing in my head: ‘If someone discovers your secret… RUN.'" Below are three five-star reader quotes: "Validus Vale is an absolute page turner," "Can't wait for the next book and OMG that end!," and "Wow! 1st book already has me so drawn in…" At the bottom: "A New Paranormal Why Choose Series."

B&N has dropped their Best Books of 2025 list with 2.5 months left in the year so here's your reminder that "best" is arbitrary, time is a construct, and there are still a ton of good books coming out that shouldn't be ignored just because the credits are rolling early
